Overwatch artwork for the hero Orisa

Unlike some of the previous seasons that featured breaks as long as a full week, the transition from Season 16 to Season 17 of Overwatch Competitive Play has been nearly instantaneous. So if you're up for a bit of a fresh start, you might want to jump in now that the new season has slightly reshuffled everyone's rank.

As far as major changes are concerned, I'm afraid Season 17 has not brought with it any sort of update. A bit unfortunate, though not exactly surprising given that Blizzard has just recently added replays, a new Baptiste challenge, the Workshop modding tools, as well as a whole bunch of new balance changes.

Apex Legends official artwork for Pathfinder

Apex Legends' Season 2 update has now arrived, bringing with it a whole host of improvements. Kings Canyon got a massive makeover, Leviathans and Flyers are all over the place, the weapon balance has been shaken to its very core with weapons like the Alternator becoming top-tier, and there's even a brand new legend called Wattson!

Out of all these changes, the one that will likely have the most impact is the introduction of Ranked Leagues. These Ranked Leagues are essentially competitive seasons where players can climb through numerous tiers in order to face off against better competition, and naturally, get better rewards. Right now only badges have been confirmed as a ranked reward, though Respawn has said they are working on something else as well, so we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

[Update]: WoW's Update 8.2.5 has now brought with it the epic conclusion to the War Campaign.

World of Warcraft's Patch 8.2 arrived a little while ago, bringing with it a whole bunch of new content spread across two zones: Nazjatar and Mechagon. Usually that would be no problem at all, but since some of the new quests require you to kill numerous rare enemies or loot a dozen rare items, the overabundance of players quickly resulted in a lot of frustration for everyone involved. Doubly so considering the quests themselves offer a rather measly amount of reputation.

In order to correct this problem, as well as make the whole daily quest system just a little bit less annoying, Blizzard has now greatly increased the health of rare enemies and made it so they scale faster when new players start to attack them. This should give you plenty of time to figure out where a rare enemy has spawned, walk over there, and still have enough time to tag it for kill credit. And best of all, the "kill three rare enemies in Nazajtar" quest has been reduced to only one, which should make it a lot easier to complete while doing other tasks around the zone.

Dota Underlords official artwork and logo

[Update]: The balance patch has now arrived, and as expected, it's a pretty exciting one!

While Dota Underlords is really fun to mess around with, there are still quite a few problems that need to be resolved. Most notably, the UI on the PC version needs some serious improvements, while some of the units and alliances need a healthy dose of balance changes in order to see any real playtime.

With that in mind, I am glad to say the upcoming update is looking really interesting from a balance standpoint! As is tradition with Valve, there aren't that many details currently available, but here's what you can expect to see later today:

[Update #2]: Fallen Order's sequel, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is heading to PC and consoles on March 17th, 2023.

[Update]: Respawn is working on three new Star Wars games, including a sequel to Jedi: Fallen Order.

After quite a few rumors and small teasers, Apex Legends studio Respawn Entertainment finally unveiled their upcoming action-adventure Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order during this year's E3. Best of all, rather than simply talk about what Star Wars Jedi will be about, they released a fairly lengthy gameplay preview showcasing just what they have to offer!

If that one video just wasn't enough, however, you'll be glad to hear that Respawn has now released a significantly longer version! It's still mostly the same sort of content from the E3 demo, but needless to say, there's quite a few new tidbits and areas not present in the previous video. Have a gander, it's a rather interesting one:

Battlefleet Gothic: Armada 2 official screenshot from the Chaos focused expansion

While I can understand the appeal of multiplayer, for me the main focus in Battlefleet Gothic: Armada 2 and its predecessor is definitely on the campaign. The missions are more interesting than straight up multiplayer brawls, the pace is a lot more relaxed, and perhaps most importantly of all, the story is so delightfully cheesy that I can't help but love it!

With that in mind, I am very pleased to say that Battlefleet Gothic: Armada 2's very first expansion has now added a brand new Chaos campaign with its own unique mechanics and storylines. Here's what you can expect to see:

[Update #2]: The base version of The Sims 4 is now entirely free-to-play on both PC and consoles.

[Update]: Eco Lifestyle, the newest expansion, is bringing in a variety of green technologies and consequences for pollution.

If you're looking to escape the summer heat, or just want brand new ways of messing with your poor Sims, you might be interested to hear that the Island Living expansion has now arrived. As you might imagine from the name alone, Island Living has brought with it a whole bunch of new content related to boats and beaches, a variety of sea-focused jobs like Lifeguard or Conservationist, as well as a whole host of cosmetic items to help you customize your new island home.

Perhaps most importantly, at least as far as messing around with your Sims is concerned, there's also a couple of new mysteries to uncover. One of these will even allow you to transform your Sim into a mermaid with its own special set of powers and weakness. And yes, you can use these new powers to be an absolute nuisance to everyone around you, which is always a good bit of fun!

Killing Floor 2: Back and Kicking Brass update official artwork

Continuing with their tradition of constantly adding new content to Killing Floor 2, Tripwire has now returned with yet another major update! This time around you're looking at Steam Fortress as a brand new map, 'Objective' as a new mode that will have you solve a variety of tasks in order to proceed onward, and naturally, three Objective maps to help you get into the swing of things.

Speaking of which, there are also two new and extremely fun-looking weapons. The first of which is the Hemoclobber for the Berserker and Field Medic, which as you might guess from the name alone, allows you to bludgeon enemies and heal allies by bonking them over the head! The second weapon is the Seal Squeal for the Demolitionist which essentially shoots out explosive harpoons. And yes, you can indeed pin enemies to walls with it, or what little remains of them anyway!

Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr close up screenshot of the main character

As I mentioned in my review, the initial version of Inquisitor - Martyr was unfortunately a bit of a disappointment. It wasn't a bad game, mind you, but rather one where just about every awesome feature was immediately counterbalanced by something either clunky or annoying, and sometimes even both.

With that in mind, I am delighted to say that the developers have now released Patch 2.0 which has improved just about every single aspect of Inquisitor - Martyr! Leveling has been revamped, crafting is now instantaneous and less fiddly, there are a bunch of new end-game modes, the campaign is now fully playable in co-op, and the list goes on for a while.

Halo: Reach one of the official screenshots

After quite a few teasers, the PC version of Halo: Reach has now finally made its way into Closed Beta and is now actually playable by the general public. The bad news, as you might imagine given the early beta status, is that this initial public test will only have a very small amount of players involved.

On the positive side, the developers have now also released a lengthy gameplay preview showing off what Halo: Reach looks like on PC with maxed out settings! Have a look, it's certainly a fun video:
