Super Monkey Ball 2 official artwork

[Update]: Turns out the mystery game is an HD remake of Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz!

It has been quite a while since the world saw a good Super Monkey Ball game, which is why I'm glad to say that a new one appears to be in the works. According to a posting on Taiwan's Game Rating Board, "Tabegoro! Super Monkey Ball" is currently in development for both PC and consoles.

As you might imagine, Sega has chosen not to comment on any sort of rumors or speculation. That said, they wouldn't exactly go through the trouble of having a nonexistent game rated, so chances are good that we'll see a new Super Monkey Ball game appear at some point in the near future.

If you're looking for a completely over-the-top shooter that is cheesier than a fine piece of Brie, you might want to check out Earth Defense Force 5. It launched on PlayStation 4 back in 2017, and after quite the wait, has now also made its way to PC alongside some fairly solid reviews.

In terms of gameplay, Earth Defense Force 5 is exactly what you might think it is - a series of terribly voiced excuses to pick up ridiculous weapons and wage all-out war against all sorts of oversized space bugs and lizards. It's not exactly a complex premise, but much like the previous Earth Defense Force games, I'd be lying if I said it wasn't fun to sometimes just smash through overwhelming numbers of enemies.

If you're itching to give Gears 5 a try, and you're willing to endure some bugs to do so, you might be glad to hear that the developers have now announced two multiplayer-focused tech tests. The first testing period will be from July 19-22, while the second one will run from July 26-29.

During these tests you'll be able to mess around with three distinct game modes and two brand new multiplayer maps. Two of the modes (Escalation and King of the Hill) should be immediately familiar to veterans, while the new Arcade mode promises an "approachable, frenetic Versus experience". I can only imagine it'll be some sort of deathmatch mode with fairly loose rules.

Code Vein is Bandai Namco's Souls inspired action-RPG that's all about tactical melee combat against extremely powerful enemies. It was originally supposed to release in late 2018, though after going through a short testing phase, the release date was pushed back to 2019.

Very little was heard from the Code Vein team since then, which is why you might be interested to hear that the seemingly endless silence has now been broken with the news of a release date. As you might guess from the title alone, Code Vein will be coming to both PC and consoles this September 27th!

[Update]: Blizzard will be opening up name reservations for World of Warcraft: Classic on August 12th!

A little while ago Blizzard announced that World of Warcraft: Classic will not be featuring language-specific servers, with the exception of the Russian servers. As you might imagine, this decision resulted in a fair bit of criticism from the Classic community, with the main concern being the creation of language-based enclaves on English servers and the communication problems that would result from that.

While I don't think the problem would've been as big as some have claimed, I am still happy to say that Blizzard has listened to the feedback and is now planning to add new servers into the mix. In other words, you can expect to see both German and French servers to be up and running from day one!

Rising Storm 2 screenshot from the Green Army Men DLC

While Rising Storm 2: Vietnam usually features somewhat realistic and slow-paced battles, the newly added Green Army Men DLC offers a bit of a different experience. The community made DLC is essentially a total conversion of Rising Storm 2: Vietnam, replacing both maps and weapons with much more appropriate and playful variants. So instead of fighting across the jungles of Vietnam, you will square off against your arch-nemesis (the Blue Army Men) in the backyard, during a pool party, and even in the battle for Christmas!

If you're wondering what all this nonsense might look like in-game, you'll find the recently posted trailer down below. Have a gander:

In order to keep the experience fresh, as well as further polish up the UI, Valve has now released a rather massive Dota Underlords update. You can expect to see a whole assortment of balance changes, nerfs to loss streaks in order to curb boring playstyles, a variety of UI improvements, a couple of new items, and naturally, some lovely bug fixes.

As for the balance changes themselves, the Warlock and Shaman alliances have been reworked in order to promote alternate playstyles, while heroes like Warlock, Disruptor and Venomancer have recieved some much-needed buffs. And if you're a Techies fan like I am, you'll also be glad to hear that Techies will no longer place his bomb half a map away from the actual fight!

[Update #2]: Blizzard will be opening up name reservations for World of Warcraft: Classic on August 12th!

[Update]: World of Warcraft: Classic's final Stress Test has been delayed indefinitely. Thankfully, the full release is still set for August 27th!

If you're one of the lucky few that have managed to snatch a World of Warcraft: Classic beta key, you might want to check out or test whatever you've been putting off because the beta is quickly coming to an end. According to Blizzard's latest announcement, the WoW Classic beta will be closing down its doors on July 12th.

"We have now reached a stage where WoW Classic is in a good state for reconciling remaining issues, and we intend to shift our focus away from the closed beta, which will end on July 12," reads the update. "Internally, we’re working through the aforementioned bug fixes, testing the high-level zones such as Eastern Plaguelands, and doing our raid testing. We’ll make sure Ragnaros and Onyxia are ready to go."

Apex Legends screenshot of Wattson looking smug

While Apex Legends stormed out of the gate with some truly amazing gameplay, the follow-up updates throughout Season 1 haven't exactly been the greatest. There was very little new content to play around with, the weapon 'meta' remained pretty much the same throughout the entire season, and to top it all off, the Battle Pass system required an absurd amount of grinding in order to reach some of the very few interesting rewards.

Thankfully, Season 2 appears to have fixed pretty much all of these problems. Kings Canyon has received a massive makeover, the recent balance changes and hop-up additions have made it so even the weakest weapons have a chance at becoming top-tier, while the Season 2 Battle Pass practically showers you with levels as long as you're paying attention to the challenges. Best of all, there's now even a ranked mode!

Shenmue 3 official artwork for Shenhua

After Shenmue 3 was Kickstarted, the developers issued a couple of surveys that asked backers if they would prefer a PlayStation 4 copy or a Steam PC key. However, since Shenmue 3 recently became a year-long Epic Games Store exclusive, that Steam PC key was replaced with an Epic Games Store one. This left quite a few backers unsatisfied with what they're getting, and as you might imagine, they soon started asking for refunds.

Usually this would be where the story ends, but for whatever reason the Shenmue 3 team decided to deny refunds, which then only fueled the fire and created an even bigger mess. Thankfully, this story does have a happy ending as Ys Net has now announced that they will not only be offering refunds, but also giving backers a choice between a couple of different versions and packages.
