If you're itching to give Gears 5 a try, and you're willing to endure some bugs to do so, you might be glad to hear that the developers have now announced two multiplayer-focused tech tests. The first testing period will be from July 19-22, while the second one will run from July 26-29.

During these tests you'll be able to mess around with three distinct game modes and two brand new multiplayer maps. Two of the modes (Escalation and King of the Hill) should be immediately familiar to veterans, while the new Arcade mode promises an "approachable, frenetic Versus experience". I can only imagine it'll be some sort of deathmatch mode with fairly loose rules.

When it comes to getting into the tech test, the process is fairly simple, both on PC and Xbox One. As long as you have an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or the standard Xbox Game Pass, you will have access to the Gears 5 tech test as soon as it starts. On the other hand. if you're not a fan of the subscription model, you will also be able to participate in the tech test by pre-ordering Gears 5.

You can learn a little bit more about the whole process, as well as what the tech test will have to offer, over at the official website.
