[Update]: Turns out the mystery game is an HD remake of Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz!

It has been quite a while since the world saw a good Super Monkey Ball game, which is why I'm glad to say that a new one appears to be in the works. According to a posting on Taiwan's Game Rating Board, "Tabegoro! Super Monkey Ball" is currently in development for both PC and consoles.

As you might imagine, Sega has chosen not to comment on any sort of rumors or speculation. That said, they wouldn't exactly go through the trouble of having a nonexistent game rated, so chances are good that we'll see a new Super Monkey Ball game appear at some point in the near future.

It'll certainly be interesting to see how much the series will evolve now that its moving back from portable platforms to consoles, as well as PC. And I don't just mean the visuals, mind you, but also the complexity of the mechanics and how involved some of the later stages can be.

Whatever the case may be, I'm afraid all we can do right now is sit and wait for the full announcement to come.
