If you're looking for a completely over-the-top shooter that is cheesier than a fine piece of Brie, you might want to check out Earth Defense Force 5. It launched on PlayStation 4 back in 2017, and after quite the wait, has now also made its way to PC alongside some fairly solid reviews.

In terms of gameplay, Earth Defense Force 5 is exactly what you might think it is - a series of terribly voiced excuses to pick up ridiculous weapons and wage all-out war against all sorts of oversized space bugs and lizards. It's not exactly a complex premise, but much like the previous Earth Defense Force games, I'd be lying if I said it wasn't fun to sometimes just smash through overwhelming numbers of enemies.
