[Update]: Apex Legends' newest character Valkyrie will be launching alongside Season 9 in May, 2021.

To help us pass the time before the massive Season 9 content update arrives, Apex Legends has now unleashed a brand new patch. However, instead of adding new locations or tons of balance changes, the newly launched War Games update is all about messing around with a variety of new limited-time events.

There are five of these events in total, each of which will run for three days before being replaced. As for what exactly the events have to offer, as well as which dates they'll be live on, that you can find out through the brief description below:

[Update]: The Chaos Wastes expansion has now finally arrived, and as expected, it's a pretty good one!

You can expect to see the Chaos Wastes make its way to PC this April 20th, and in a shocking twist, it will be entirely free for everyone! The console version will also be coming, though at a future date.

The Chaos Wastes expansion will primarily focus on a rogue-lite game mode that will have you have undergo a variety of expeditions into the very realm of Chaos in search of magical artifacts. Along the way you'll acquire interesting new abilities and talents, purchase powerful boons from shrines, as well as explore 15 new and unique locations.

[Update #2]: Shadowlands' very first major content patch will be landing at the end of June.

[Update]: Blizzard has finally increased Anima rewards from World Quests!

While the full release is still quite a few months away, you might be happy to hear that World of Warcraft's Update 9.1 - Chains of Domination has now landed onto the test servers. So if you would like to take a sneak peek at some of the new content, as well as help the developers out by sharing much-needed feedback, make sure to hop onto the PTR and take the update for a spin.

Update 9.1 - Chains of Domination brings with it Korthia as a chunky new zone to explore, new Torghast layers to test yourself against, a brand new Covenant Campaign story and Renown levels, and as is tradition, some massive nerfs to the currently most powerful specs like Affliction Warlocks and Fire Mages. As for the new raid, the first two bosses of the Sanctum of Domination will become available for testing tomorrow, April 16th.

[Update]: It took over a decade, but The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero is coming to PC in Fall 2022.

Only a year has gone by since the excellent The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III, and already the sequel has now made its way to PC and Switch. Trails of Cold Steel IV brings with it the finale of the massive saga, an equally huge roster of characters that takes from the entire series, as well as a whole host of new mini-games and abilities to mess around with in battles and outside of them.

You can get a little bit of an idea of which characters will be playing a major role, as well as how all of this looks like in actual gameplay, through one of the trailers below. Have a gander, it's a fairly long one:

[Update #2]: The long wait is finally over - Age of Empires 4 has now been unleashed!

[Update]: Relic has just unveiled a full-length multiplayer match between the Holy Roman Empire and Rus factions.

After quite a few years in development, Age of Empires 4 will finally be heading over to PC in fall 2021. It'll bring with it eight playable factions (Chinese, Delhi Sultanate, English and Mongol are the known ones so far) with their own unique mechanics and visuals, four story-focused campaigns, and naturally, a whole host of gameplay improvements over its predecessors.

Rather than babble on, allow me to share with you the recently posted and rather lengthy gameplay preview. It should give you a pretty good idea of what Age of Empires 4 is all about and just how much inspiration it takes from the classics. Have a gander:

Apex Legends artwork for Lifeline

[Update]: Apex Legends has detailed all of the additions and balance changes coming in with Season 9, and yes, this includes the Lifeline rework!

[Update]: The War Games update has now brought in five new limited-time events.

Ever since her original rework, Lifeline has been in a bit of a tricky spot when it comes to balance. She is nearly worthless in higher ranks because all of her abilities require the team to be at a major disadvantage in order to do anything, while in the lower ranks her ability to resurrect someone over and over again can feel nearly impossible to punish.

So in order to sort this little problem out, Apex Legends will be launching another Lifeline rework with the upcoming Season 9. While the exact details haven't been announced just yet, Respawn is looking to remove Lifeline's resurrection shield, and in return give her increased tactical healing speed, as well as make her ultimate give guaranteed upgrades.

Borderlands 3's Director's Cut DLC screenshot of Ava from up close

[Update]: Borderlands devs are working on a more RPG focused spin-off - Tiny Tina's Wonderlands.

After taking a bit longer to release than expected, Borderlands 3's newest Director's Cut DLC has now been unleashed. It brings with it a series of short new quests centered around Ava and her 'Mysteriouslier' podcast, a massive new raid boss, a whole bunch of new themed loot and cosmetics, and as you might guess from the name alone, a collection of behind-the-scenes material from Borderlands 3's development.

You can get a pretty good idea of what all of this looks like in actual gameplay through the recently posted launch trailer. Have a gander, it's a rather brief one:

Dota 2 artwork for the new hero Dawnbreaker

[Update]: Dota 2's next hero will be Marci - the adorable, mute fighter from the Dota: Dragon's Blood animated series.

It has only been a little while since the last major Dota 2 update, and already a brand new one has gone live. However, this time around the focus is not on getting new players up to speed, but rather on giving veterans some fun new toys to play around with.

First and foremost, Update 7.29 has brought with it Dawnbreaker - a highly durable melee hero with a great deal of damage potential. Her first ability is a short-ranged series of hammer blows that ends with a stun, which pairs nicely with her passive that provides her with bonus damage and aoe healing after every three strikes.

[Update #2]: The War Games update is now live and running!

[Update]: Apex Legends' Season 9 will bring in yet another major Lifeline rework.

In an effort to shake things up a bit, Apex Legends will soon be releasing a brand new War Games event. Once it arrives this April 13th it'll bring with it five limited-time game modes, a whole assortment of new cosmetics to collect, and as is tradition, some nifty balance changes and bug fixes to round everything out.

While the latter has not been announced just yet, Respawn has at least revealed what the five new game modes will be all about. Here's a brief description of each one, as well as a gameplay trailer showing them all off in action:

Path of Exile 2 artwork for the Necromancer

[Update]: Path of Exile's January 2022 Siege of the Atlas expansion has reworked the endgame yet again.

Once it arrives at some point in 2022, Path of Exile 2 will bring with it a whole host of improvements over the original. There will be an entirely new story campaign spread across seven acts, a massive rework of the skill tree, over a dozen new Ascendancy classes, support gems will socket into active skills rather than gear, and naturally, there will also be a variety of visual and audio enhancements across the board.

While the full list of changes hasn't been announced just yet, I'm very happy to say Grinding Gear Games have now released a lengthy new gameplay preview for Path of Exile 2, and so far it's looking pretty darn impressive! Have a look for yourself:
