Shadowrun: Hong Kong is getting a massive free update

If there ever was a development team that did Kickstarter campaigns right it would be Harebrained Schemes, the folks behind the modern Shadowrun games. They ask for reasonable sums of money, have well laid out plans and deliver excellent games right on schedule.

And if that's not enough to convince that HS really do care about their games then the fact that they just announced 5 hours of completely free extra content for Shadowrun: Hong Kong should. Here's the announcement message:

Fallout 4's Update 1.3 brings new features and many bug fixes

Despite playing a lot Fallout 4 I never really encountered many bugs or glitches which now I realize was an extremely fortunate thing. As it turns out some people were completely locked out from finishing the game, or even entering various areas until today's update 1.3 solved the problem, yikes.

Along with some very welcome bugfixing this update also brought in a couple of graphical tweaks to the PC version of Fallout 4 as well as much needed quality of life improvements for the settlements. Here's the full list of patch notes:

The ridiculous RPG Disgaea is coming to PC this February 24th

Being a PC gamer for the majority of my life I have to admit I know very little about the Disgaea series other than its a bunch of extremely well done RPGs with a good dash of humor thrown in.

But even knowing its a series quite light in tone didn't manage to prepare me for the sheer ridiculousness that is the Disgaea PC release trailer. Take a look, you won't regret it:

The Division open beta will be starting later this month

Ubisoft extended The Division's closed beta test yesterday in order to ensure that the latecomers had a chance to play it before the gates were finally closed until the March 8th launch.

However, according to a post on Xbox Italy's official Facebook page it seems that The Division will be entering open beta from the 16th to 21st of February so even if you didn't get lucky enough with the closed beta you still might have a chance. The post was promptly deleted but Eurogamer managed to capture the image:

Grey Goo update brings with it a new faction, the Shroud

Grey Goo is an asymmetric base-building RTS starring three unique races each with their own tactics, ways of expansion, unit composition and overall gameplay style. While I never had the chance to play it myself most of the reviews I've gone over seem to agree on one thing, Grey Goo needs a lot more content given its price point.

The developers were seemingly well aware of this issue as the "Descent of the Shroud" update was announced yesterday and set to launch today, February 1st at 12pm CST / 6pm UTC. Best part about it all? Its completely free! Here's the announcement trailer:

The Division's beta has been extended until Tuesday, February 2nd

To say that the recent closed beta for The Division has been in high demand would be one hell of an understatement. There were so many people who signed up for the beta that Ubisoft decided to increase the player capacity not once, but twice already.

If you are among those that got in yesterday and barely had a time to experience The Division I have some good news as Ubisoft has announced that the beta will be extended until Tuesday, February 2nd, 12pm CET / 6am EST / 3am PST. Here's the announcement message:

The three XCOM 2 mods launching alongside the game were revealed today

It was announced a little while back that XCOM 2 would be launching alongside multiple mods made by the very talented Long War mod team but it was never specified how many of them there would be and what they would entail.

But after a recent interview Eurogamer's Chris Bratt did with Jake Solomon from Firaxis and Johnny Lumpkin from Long War Studios we now know that the three mods coming with XCOM 2's February 5th launch are a new SMG weapon, a Muton Centurion mini boss and a new set of leadership perks. Here's the video and a more detailed explanation:

Tomb Raider (2013) might be coming to Linux soon

The 2013 reboot of the Tomb Raider franchise might not be the best game ever made but it was certainly fresh and enjoyable enough for me to finish it in just a couple of days and feel good about the whole experience afterwards.

If you are exclusively on Linux and thus never had a chance to try it I might have some good news as SteamDB has spotted some Linux related files being added to the Tomb Raider app.

Killer Instinct Kim Wu & Season 3 patch notes announced

During the recent Killer Instinct world cup held at PAX South the developers Iron Galaxy announced a new character arriving with Season 3 as well as a long list of balance changes.

The latest character to be added to the Season 3 roster is Kim Wu, a "martial artist, design student and demon ass-kicker". Here's the announcement trailer and even if you're not interested in the character I'd still recommend you give it a look:

Fallout 4 mod adds a good assortment of well balanced perks and traits

Back in Fallout 3 and New Vegas there were plenty of unique and cool perks to chose from, some of which would augment your character in major ways while giving you a drawback to compensate. My favorite example of this is the four eyes trait that permanently reduces your perception but gives you a bonus if you wear glasses. Its flavorful, powerful and balanced as you can't wear head armor anymore.

Sadly Fallout 4 doesn't even have traits and the perks it does have are all straight forward and rather uninteresting. But, as it is common with Bethesda games, the modding community provides, today in the form of Cirosan's Traits and More Perks mod. Here's a few examples of the traits introduced by the mod:
