Fallout 4's survival mode is getting an update sometime soon

As someone who greatly enjoyed the hardcore survival mode in Fallout: New Vegas I have to say that the Fallout 4 equivalent has been less than ideal, to say it nicely.

Thankfully it seems that Bethesda agrees because they've released a short Facebook announcement recently stating that they are working on a complete overhaul of the survival mode with the focus on providing a more compelling experience. Here's the full quote:

"We’re also doing a complete overhaul of Fallout 4 Survival mode. Food, sleep, diseases, danger and more. Stay tuned."

It might not be the most elaborate announcement ever made but it does get the point across, Bethesda is aware of the issues with Fallout 4's survival mode and are aiming to fix them in the near future.

If you haven't tried survival mode believe me when I say you're not missing out on much. The biggest changes are related to how much damage and health the enemies have which in gameplay terms means that you are required to waste entire clips at bare-chested bandits. Its difficult, that's for sure, but there's very little actual survival in there, or common sense.

Besides the survival mode announcement Bethesda also stated that while they aren't willing to share information on the upcoming Fallout 4 DLC just yet we can expect it to arrive sometime soon. Hopefully this means the survival mode will be arriving alongside the DLC as I think I'm ready for another Fallout 4 playthrough, this time around armed with the knowledge that Preston Garvey is to be avoided like the plague.

In other Fallout 4 related news, update 1.3 was released a short while ago bringing with it many quality of life changes, bug fixes and graphical improvements so if it was gameplay issues that stopped you from finishing Fallout 4 now would be the time to return.
