Assassin's Creed fans have been complaining about oversaturation for years now but it seems that with Unity's extremely poor reception Ubisoft has finally got the message.
In a blog post that went up today the Assassin's Creed team thanked their fans for sticking by them for all these years and announced that there will be no new Assassin's Creed game this year as they want to create a truly memorable experience with the next one. Here's the most interesting part of the announcement:

You know how Microsoft keeps saying every year that they will totally start taking PC gaming seriously and then do precisely nothing of the sort? Well, I think they might have actually been genuine this time around.
According to today's announcement Quantum Break will be the latest in a series of games that are going to launch simultaneously on both the PC and Xbox One. Here's the trailer, system requirements and a bit more info:

What Dominion was supposed to be is a fast paced challenging game mode that's perfectly suited for people willing to just jump in to the action, smack a few guys around and then leave satisfied for the day.
Unfortunately, as many of you that tried it know, that didn't pan out and Dominion quickly turned in to an imbalanced mess. And now, four years after its inception, Dominion is being retired due to less than 0.5% of the playerbase actively playing it. Here's what Riot's L4T3NCY had to say:

Do you remember Hatred, the game that marketed itself as an extremely offensive poke at modern civilization and our sensibilities only to launch as a boring and uninspired twin-stick shooter?
Well, the developers Destructive Creation are at it again with another game designed solely to sell based on controversy. This time around its IS Defense, a game that just might be crazy and explosive enough to be fun. Here's the trailer:

If someone told me a few years ago to try out a game that's all about being an honest, law-abiding trucker I would have probably burst in to laughter. Nowadays I ask which trucks are available...
You might think I'm being facetious but the Truck Simulator series has been an absolute joy to me. Its simple to grasp, engaging, yet extremely relaxing making it a great way to unwind alongside a podcast or two after having a rough day.
And if you need further convincing, American Truck Simulator has released a free demo today so if you want to experience the glorious life of a virtual trucker now's your chance. Here's the trailer as well:

Telltale's The Walking Dead: Season 1 is in many ways the game that saved the story-focused adventure genre from certain extinction. Its combination of believable characters, mature storytelling and the inclusion of the all-popular zombies resulted in a game that became a classic the moment it released.
If after finishing Season 2 you found yourself itching for more I have some good news because Telltale has recently announced that their mini series titled The Walking Dead: Michonne will be premiering on February 23rd. Here's the trailer:

The Division will be entering open beta testing on February 16th for the Xbox One with the PS4 and PC versions following suit the next day. The beta test is scheduled to run until February 21st so you will have a good few days to try out The Division.
If you participated in the previous beta tests you will find a number of new additions and changes in the open beta as the developers have been hard at work patching, introducing and polishing features based on community feedback. Here's the full list of changes, courtesy of Sekuiya who painstakingly typed all of this out from PS4 screenshots:

The original Frozen Synapse might be one of the most unique and well made strategy games in the "recent" years. The fact that both players take their turns simultaneously adds an immense amount of depth as you have to consider both your plans and those of your opponent's. In short, it was and still is a really fun game that's well worth the time and effort it takes to "git gud" at it.
And if you've managed to master the small-ish levels of Frozen Synapse I have some exciting news to tell you because Frozen Synapse 2 has just been announced and its going to be focused around open world tactics.

After an unusually long wait the Overwatch beta has finally returned, bringing with it a lot of exiting new additions and an even bigger amount of disappointment as many people have once again realized that there is no key awaiting in their inbox.
The new features I'm talking about are updates to the player progression system, a new co-op vs AI mode, a new game mode called Control, two new maps and a bunch of mutators/custom gameplay options for private games. Here's the developer update video along with my brief overview of the changes:
