[Update]: Borderlands 2 has just received a hefty new free DLC to help bridge the gap with Borderlands 2!

After being leaked and rumored for well over a year, Borderlands 3 was announced a little while ago alongside a rather impressive trailer. However, while the trailer revealed a variety of characters and locations, it provided very little in terms of details, especially when it comes to Borderlands 3's actual gameplay.

Thankfully, this has now been corrected as Gearbox has released a fairly lengthy gameplay preview, mostly focused on two of the new characters: Zane, a high-tech assassin, and Amara, a melee-focused Siren who can summon ethereal fists to really bring down the pain. Here's how it all looks like in action:

[Update #2]: World War Z is getting an expansion with new levels, characters, and even bigger zombie hordes.

[Update]: A free update has now added a comprehensive Horde mode and an explosive new enemy.

The co-op focused shooter World War Z launched a little while ago with all the warning signs pointing towards serious trouble. It was a tie-in game for a movie that's practically forgotten at this point, the only enemies you were going to fight were the already overused zombies, while its gameplay style seemed to be based entirely on Valve's Left 4 Dead. However, despite the deck being quite heavily stacked against it, World War Z ended up being a genuinely enjoyable game!

With that in mind, I am also happy to say that things will be getting even better in the near future as the developers have now announced their plans for the upcoming free updates. The details are still few and far between, but here's what you can expect to see:

[Update]: Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night has now been officially released and I'm glad to say it's received good reviews so far!

After quite a few delays, previews and teasers, the Castlevania: Symphony of the Night inspired Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night now finally has a concrete release date. You can expect to see it on June 18th on Steam, GoG, PS4 and XB1, while the Switch version will arrive on June 25th. As for the Linux and Mac versions, those ones have unfortunately been canceled a while back.

Besides the release date announcement, the developers have also unveiled a brand new trailer that addresses many of the complaints directed towards Bloodstained's previous and rather paltry previews. Have a gander, this one's a pretty good one:

The original Guild Wars is currently celebrating its fourteenth anniversary, and in order to get everyone into the festive spirit ArenaNet has now released a brand new update. There is no new content as most of the developers are still quite busy with Guild Wars 2, but I am glad to say that the update has brought in some rather nice quality of life changes.

The Augur of Kormir costume has made a return, there is now a master volume slider, while both NPC and player movement has been made slightly more consistent. The anniversary update has also added an in-game clock, a borderless windowed mode, the ability to finally lock compass rotation, as well as a variety of bug fixes.

[Update]: MTG Arena's Zendikar Rising expansion has landed with nearly 300 new cards in tow.

If you're looking for a reason to pick up MTG Arena, you might be interested to hear that the War of the Spark expansion has now arrived. Besides serving as the finale to the incredibly long-lasting Nicol Bolas storyline, the War of the Spark expansion has also brought in 264 new cards to toy around with (15 basic lands, 101 commons, 80 uncommons, 53 rares, 15 mythic rares).

Perhaps most importantly, at least as far as gameplay is concerned, the War of the Spark expansion has added a whole bunch of new planeswalkers, as well as given them some interesting new mechanics to mess around with. You can find the full list of cards, all neatly sorted by color, over at the offical website.

Total War: Warhammer 2 battle screenshot for The Prophet and the Warlock DLC

[Update]: Total War: Warhammer 2's next DLC, The Hunter & The Beast, will be greatly improving the Empire faction, as well as adding some lovely new units for the Lizardmen!

If you're like me and you mostly avoided playing as the Skaven or Lizardmen due to their lack of options, I am very happy to announce that Creative Assembly has now released both an update and The Prophet and the Warlock DLC in order to beef up both their roster and abilities. The update has also brought in some rather nice changes to Bretonnia, so if you're up for experimenting with races you might not usually play, this would be a pretty good update to start doing so.

On the paid side of things, The Prophet and the Warlock has added two new legendary lords with their own unique skills and items, a variety of new units including the Rattling Gun Weapon Teams and fire-breathing Salamanders, as well as numerous new technologies and rituals to take advantage of. Perhaps most importantly, the DLC has also added the ability for Skaven to develop and launch what is essentially nuclear weapons! And yes, they're about as devastating on the battlefield as you would expect!

Octopath Traveler screenshot from the PC version

If you're in the mood for an oldschool JRPG, you might be interested to hear that Square Enix's previously Switch-exclusive Octopath Traveler will be coming to PC on June 7th. Square Enix hasn't announced whether the PC version will bring with it any additional features or content, but given that the Switch version is relatively new and fairly polished, I wouldn't be surprised if they simply release it with support for higher resolutions.

As far as Octopath Traveler itself is concerned, you can get a bit of an idea of what to expect through one of the recently posted trailers. Have a gander, it's quite a charming one:

[Update]: Paradox is stopping development on Imperator: Rome for the foreseeable future.

If you currently have an excess of free time and a desire to conquer the known world, you might want to check out Paradox's newest grand strategy game - Imperator: Rome. As you would imagine given that it's a Paradox game, Imperator: Rome will task you with managing just about every facet of your empire, fighting against threats from within and from afar, and naturally, endlessly expanding your empire in order to keep the world map nice and evenly colored.

You can get a bit of an idea of what Imperator: Rome looks like in-game, as well as what the whole thing is all about, through the recently posted trailer down below. Have a peek:

While the number of heroes, maps and cosmetics keeps increasing year after year, Overwatch's competitive mode has remained relatively stagnant. With that in mind, I am very glad to say that Blizzard has finally implemented some nice changes with Season 16!

The first and most important one for the general playerbase is that Blizzard has now completely removed the off-season break. In other words, as soon as a season ends, a brand new one will begin. A relatively simple change in the grand scheme of things, but certainly a welcome one as the lengthy break was always a complete waste of time for players that didn't care much about non-competitive modes.

Valve Index official artwork showing all the components

It is no secret that Valve has been investing a lot of time and resources into VR over the past few years, but even though the rumors surrounding their projects are far too numerous to recount, we received very little in terms of official information. With that in mind, I am quite glad to say that the endless silence has now finally been broken as Valve has come out to fully announce their very own VR device - Valve Index.

According to the announcement, the Valve Index headset comes with dual 1440x1600 RGB LCDs and runs primarily at 120Hz, with an experimental mode that can push that up to 144Hz. I won't bore you with the technical details as you can find all of those on the official website, but from the looks of things, the Valve Index headset will be a notable improvement over its current competition, both in terms of resolution, refresh rate and visual clarity.
