[Update]: Borderlands 2 has just received a hefty new free DLC to help bridge the gap with Borderlands 2!

After being leaked and rumored for well over a year, Borderlands 3 was announced a little while ago alongside a rather impressive trailer. However, while the trailer revealed a variety of characters and locations, it provided very little in terms of details, especially when it comes to Borderlands 3's actual gameplay.

Thankfully, this has now been corrected as Gearbox has released a fairly lengthy gameplay preview, mostly focused on two of the new characters: Zane, a high-tech assassin, and Amara, a melee-focused Siren who can summon ethereal fists to really bring down the pain. Here's how it all looks like in action:

While Borderlands 3 has brought with it improvements on pretty much every front, it still looks and feels like Borderlands 2 to me, and that is not a bad thing at all! In my eyes Borderlands 2 is still at the very top of the mountain when it comes to 'looter shooters', so if Borderlands 3 can take everything that worked well and then further improve on it, I could easily see it going all the way up there as well.

Whether that ends up being the case or not, I suppose we'll find out soon enough as Borderlands 3 has been pinned for a September release date on both PC and consoles. You can learn a little bit more about Borderlands 3, as well as follow its development moving forward, over at the official website.

And just for good measure, allow me to leave you with one of the recent trailers. Enjoy!
