Pillars of Eternity 2 official artwork with logo

If you ever wanted to give Pillars of Eternity 2 a try, or just a brand new playthrough, you're in luck as this would probably be the best time to do so. After spending a fair bit of time in beta, the final 5.0 update has now arrived with a variety of improvements, including a brand new and fully-fledged turn-based mode!

Instead of simply slowing down the action and keeping everything else the same, Obsidian has pretty much rebalanced the entirety of the combat system in order to ensure the turn-based mode is more than a simple gimmick. Character abilities are now a lot more impactful, buffs and debuffs are a lot more potent as you can't simply spam them, and some of the previously useless abilities have suddenly become amazing as the combat has shifted towards a more tactical direction. So whether you're a fan of oldschool CRPGs or not, I'd highly recommend checking out the new turn-based mode - it really is quite good!

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne official screenshot of a frost dragon attacking our characters

[Update]: The PC version of Monster Hunter World - Iceborne will be coming in January 2020!

Well, I have some good news and some bad news. The good news is that Capcom has now finally announced a release date for Monster Hunter: World's Iceborne expansion - September 6th. The bad news is that the PC version will once again play second fiddle to the console ones, and as such its release date will be at some point this winter.

In terms of content, the Iceborne expansion will bring with it a massive new region to explore, a variety of new and old monsters to hunt, new movesets and elemental combos for each weapon, as well as a couple of new gadgets to play around with. There will also be a new Master Rank to strive for, a brand new storyline that directly follows on from the original and revolves around a mysterious new Elder Dragon, and the list goes on.

Total War: Three Kingdoms will be coming this May 23rd, bringing with it a variety of new features and improvements over the previous Total War games. Diplomacy is being reworked from the ground up, espionage will be getting a variety of improvements to make it more interesting and relevant, your actions in battle will have an effect on your heroes and their relationships, there will be realistic and Dynasty Warriors inspired game modes to mess around with, and the list goes on for a while.

If you're wondering how all of this might translate into a multiplayer campaign, allow me to share with you the recently posted developer preview. It's unfortunately a bit light on action, but it is an insightful video regardless. Have a peek:

Apex Legends official artwork showing off Bloodhound

While most games get criticized due to some of their design issues, things are a bit different with Apex Legends. The core gameplay was and still is extremely solid, but it is the numerous bugs and technical problems that have held the whole experience back ever since launch.

Respawn promised they would fixed all of the issues nearly a month ago, and while no major updates have been added since then, it would appear that they are finally getting close to nailing most of egregious bugs. According to the latest developer update, the problems with hit registration, the health bug that affects Cuastic and Gibraltar, laggy servers and audio problems will be all be getting fixed next patch.

The Witcher 3's Geralt fighting a Monster Hunter: World Rathian

The Witcher 3's Geralt made his way into the console versions of Monster Hunter: World all the way back in February, bringing with him a whole bunch of content to mess around with. Quite a few months have passed since then, and while the wait certainly wasn't easy, I am happy to say that The Witcher 3 crossover event has now finally made its way to the PC version as well!

Instead of being a simple cosmetic re-skin, Geralt has arrived alongside his own unique quest and voice acting, equipment, combat moves, as well as two new bosses to face off against - the Leshen and its significantly more dangerous counterpart, the Ancient Leshen. As is tradition, the crossover event has also brought in a variety of Witcher-themed gear to craft, both for yourself and for your Palico companion.

Blood: Fresh Supply screenshot of Caleb with a stick of dynamite

Out of all the "Build engine" games I've played, and this includes classics like Duke Nukem 3D and Shadow Warrior, the original Blood has always been my favorite. It had a rock solid atmosphere, one of the best oldschool shotguns, a nice variety of enemies, plenty of dynamite to throw around, as well as a deviously challenging difficulty that resulted in my younger self being glued to the screen for days on end.

With that in mind, I hope you can realize just how happy I am to announce that Blood: Fresh Supply, a remastered version of the original horror FPS, has now made its way to PC. Here's what it looks like in action:

Age of Wonders 3 official screenshot of a battle against an undead dragon

Age of Wonders: Planetfall is set to arrive this August 6th, bringing with it a massive world to conquer, a variety of factions filled with customizable units, as well as a plenty of options to help guide your civilization in whichever direction you want. In order to get everyone acclimated to this style of gameplay, as well as potentially interested in the upcoming Planetfall, the developers are now giving away the original Age of Wonders 3 for free!

All you need to do is head on over to the Humble Store, go through the brief confirmation process, and you'll be well on your way to conquer the world. The only catch is that this whole promotion will last for a mere two days, so do make sure to grab yourself a copy as soon as possible.

League of Legends official artwork for the champion Shyvanna

Given how old League of Legends is and how many characters it currently has milling about, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise to hear that some of them need a bit of help in order to stay relevant. And since they couldn't decide which one to rework next, Riot is now giving the community a chance to make that choice for them.

The five lucky candidates are: Fiddlesticks, Shyvanna, Nocturne, Dr. Mundo and Volibear. Besides the obvious tweaks to their abilities and playstyle, the rework will also spruce up the chosen champion's visuals, story, animations, voice acting, skins, and pretty much everything else. So whatever champion you decide to go with, know that they will be getting the full treatment!

Guild Wars 2 screenshot of the upcoming Skyscale dragon mount

Out of all the games I've played, Guild Wars 2 has the most unique and exciting mounts. Not only do they have their own personalities and are fun to ride around on, but much like weapons and abilities in a Metroidvania game, each one offers a distinct advantage that you can use to navigate the environment and engage enemies.

With that in mind, I am extremely happy to say that Guild Wars 2 will soon be getting the Skyscale, a flying dragon mount that can climb walls and breathe fire! If that sounds as awesome to you as it does to me, then mark May 14th on your calendar as that's when Guild Wars 2's Episode 6 – War Eternal will be swooping in.
