After going through a brief round of testing, the isometric and Souls-like action RPG Achilles: Legends Untold has now landed into Steam Early Access. As you might imagine given the combination of genres, Achilles is all about slicing and dicing your way through groups of enemies, all the while taking great care of your positioning and timing as they are going to be the only things keeping you from becoming a colorful smear on the floor.
What this looks like in gameplay, as well as what sort of atmosphere Achilles is going for, that you can find out through the launch trailer below. Have a gander:

In a sudden flash of inspiration, The Game Bakers team have decided to return to their 2016 boss-battling action game Furi in order to see what they can do to make the experience fresh and exciting, even for veteran players. The answer, as it turns out, is to create a brand new character that plays quite differently to the original one!
Onnamusha Rider, the one and only part of the newly launched Onnamusha DLC, is a powerful fighter that alternates between two different stances: one that's fast and agile and allows you to strike at the bosses in the rare few moments when they're not spewing attacks at you, and another that's slower yet significantly more lethal. Either way you'll be building up the special Star meter in the process, which can then be used to unleash a rather ridiculous amount of damage!

The freshly released Cantata is a stylish hybrid between a classic turn-based strategy game and something like Factorio. As such, you need to not only outmaneuver and overwhelm your opponents with a wide assortment of units, but also ensure your entire production line and supply chain are able to keep up so you don't find yourself suddenly stranded in enemy territory.
What this looks like in action, however, that you can get a pretty good impression of through the launch trailer below. Have a gander:

Rather than simply use randomization to generate unique levels and loot to help spice up the gameplay, the freshly released roguelite Source of Madness has decided to push things to the absolute extreme. As such, not only are the locations procedurally generated and rendered in a bizarre yet intriguing AI-assisted art style, but the actual monsters are created completely at random and animated using a neural network!
Needless to say the end result is a complete and utter nightmare of a world, which luckily goes quite well with Source of Madness's Lovecraftian horror themes! Since words alone just can't do this concept justice, allow me to share with you one of the recent trailers. Have a gander, it sure is a sight to behold:

[Update]: After two years in Early Access, Songs of Conquest will be launching on May 20th, 2024!
If you're a fan of the classic Heroes of Might and Magic series, you might want to keep an eye on the freshly released Songs of Conquest. As you might imagine given its inspiration, Songs of Conquest is a turn-based strategy that's all about exploring a giant map in search of treasure and resources, upgrading your base in order to unlock new units and abilities, and then using your mighty armies to crush all opposition!
What this looks like in actual gameplay, however, that you can get a bit of a sneak peek at through the launch trailer. Have a gander:

Salt and Sacrifice, sequel to the flawed yet highly enjoyable 2D Souls-like RPG Salt and Sanctuary, has now been unleashed onto PC and PlayStation. Much like its predecessor it brings with it a large world filled with treasure and secrets, an assortment of tricky enemies that will happily smash you into the dirt if you don't pay attention, as well as a variety of different gear and upgrades to help keep things interesting.
What all of this looks like in actual gameplay, as well as what the story is even all about, that you can get a glimpse at through the freshly posted launch trailer. Have a gander:

Inspired by the classics like Broken Sword and Syberia, the freshly released Crowns and Pawns: Kingdom of Deceit is a point & click puzzle-adventure. As you might imagine given that brief description alone, Crowns and Pawns is all about solving a variety of tricky problems, navigating obstacles in a way that no ordinary human would ever even consider, as well as chatting up an assortment of amusing characters along the way.
What I find the most interesting, however, is that Crowns and Pawns not only allows you to customize your character, but that the way you look actually plays into the puzzles themselves and how people respond to you. It's not a particularly complex system, so don't get any big ideas, but it's still a neat little touch to help you get immersed into the story.

[Update]: Onnamusha Rider has now arrived, and so far her playstyle really does seem to offer a fresh and unique take on Furi's gameplay!
In announcement that comes completely out of nowhere, The Game Bakers team has just unveiled a brand new DLC for their 2016 boss-battling action game Furi. The Onnamusha DLC brings with it a brand new character that features her own unique assortment of moves, gameplay mechanics and approaches for each boss.
Onnamusha Rider, the titular character, will be a powerful fighter that alternates between two different stances in order to best approach each situation. You can go fast and agile in order to strike at the bosses in the rare few moments they're not spewing attacks towards you, or go for the riskier approach that involves slower yet far more lethal attacks. Either way you'll be building up the special Star meter in the process, which can then be used to unleash some serious damage upon your foes.

[Update]: Outward: Definitive Edition has now been unleashed alongside a surprisingly musical trailer!
As I've talked about throughout my review, Outward is a brutal yet enthralling exploration-focused RPG, quite similar to the Gothic or Risen series. If that sounds like exactly the kind of adventure you'd like to dive into, you'll be happy to hear that the new and improved Outward: Definitive Edition is launching on May 17th, 2022 for PC, PlayStation and Xbox!
The Definitive Edition will come bundled with both of the expansions, The Soroboreans and The Three Brothers, as well as a whole host of balance tweaks, quality-of-life improvements and brand new content. The exact list of additions hasn't been announced just yet, but given my experience with Outward, it's probably going to involve being chased around by something big and scary!

After being delayed time and time again, The Stanley Parable's remastered and enhanced Ultra Deluxe version has now finally been unleashed! It brings with it a variety of visual improvements while still staying true to the original's style, as well as a ton of new content and secrets to explore!
The exact list of changes is nowhere to be found, which is probably for the best as The Stanley Parable is one of those games you really want to experience without any sort of foreknowledge. After all, driving the poor narrator insane is a whole lot funnier when you're actually trying to do the right thing!
