The Witcher 3's beautiful sea, whales, and a dragon

Throughout my 20 or so hours with Blood and Wine (you can read my review here) I can't say I ever encountered any serious bugs, but as is to be expected with open world games there were a fair few "land mines" people ended up stepping on. While I haven't heard any reports of game-breaking issues, there were still some that completely stopped quest chains from progressing, caused Roach to flip out even more than usual, and other such unpleasant things.

Thankfully, most of these problems should now be resolved for the PC version as Patch 1.22 has recently been made available. For those of you playing on the console versions, worry not, the update will be coming your way in the near future as well.

Gwent: The Witcher Card game in-game screenshot

As I've mentioned in my review of Blood and Wine, Gwent is a card game I am still puzzled by. On one hand its a well polished (and addicting) mini-game that has managed to achieve such levels of popularity its frankly astonishing, but on the other its a complete train-wreck in terms of balance, with the best player most often being decided by the deck itself. So why on Earth have I spend over 10 hours playing it and collecting every single card!?

If you're like me, and I know for a fact that this group boasts quite the membership, you'll be both delighted and horrified to hear that CDPR has officially announced Gwent: The Witcher Card Game. Here's the recently posted trailer that showcases some of the gameplay, but also highlights a couple of much needed balance changes:

Sniper Elite 4's official promo art

Sniper Elite 4 was supposed to arrive later this year, but unfortunately that appears to no longer be the case. According to the most recent Rebellion blog post, the premier "ball-busting" sniper game will instead release on February 14, 2017.

Its not all bad news, however, as IGN has recently managed to sit down with a couple of guys from Rebellion and see what exactly the fourth iteration of the series has managed to cook up. Here's the video, and a brief explanation from Rebellion on why exactly the delay was necessary:

Demons from the modern Doom game

Bethesda and id promised a variety of free (and paid) updates when Doom first launched, and now a month later they are getting ready to deliver on just that promise. You can expect to see two new free maps appear during the next month, numerous additions to Doom's SnapMap creation tool, and also a fully fledged "paid DLC pack" that comes with a couple of maps, a few more toys to play around with, and a big ol' demon.

If you're looking for information straight out of the horses mouth, the horse in this case being the Executive Producer Marty Stratton, then I welcome you to check out the video below. On the other hand, if you're as lazy as I am and just want the short version, I got you covered:

Frank West from Dead Rising 4

Frank West, the "completely serious journalist" and zombie slaying enthusiast, is set to return with Dead Rising 4 on December 6. As you might expect, it'll be available for both the Xbox One and Windows 10.

With that out of the way, here's the recently posted E3 trailer that's full of holiday cheer, absurd weaponry, and naturally, hordes of zombies getting splattered in a variety of hilarious ways:

A battle screenshot from Tekken 7

Despite being absolutely terrible at fighting games I must profess that the Tekken series has always been a sort of guilty pleasure for me. Not because of its intricate balance and deep combat, of which I sadly know next to nothing, but rather because of the insane roster of characters that includes such classics as the giant panda, a sentient heap of wood, and a teleporting demon samurai that tends to stab himself a lot. All of it defies any sort of logic or common sense, but its a heap of fun so I don't think anyone really minds.

With that said, I have some good and bad news. The good news is that Gamespot recently recorded a dozen minutes of Tekken 7 gameplay at E3, and by all accounts it seems to be pretty damn good. As for the bad news... well, the presenter basically has no idea what he's doing, and this is coming from someone who's a self-professed noob, so don't expect to see any amazing combos or a deep gameplay showcase.

The video is still well worth checking out, however, and even though you might not see tournament-level gameplay it should still give you a good idea on what to expect from Tekken 7:

Diablo from Diablo 3 fighting an Angel

You have to hand it to Blizzard, they are a tenacious bunch. Despite starting off with a rather shaky foundation, to put things lightly, they've managed to slowly turn Diablo 3 around and eventually transform it into something wonderful. The expansion helped, naturally, but every single update that came out in the past year or so has been right on the mark.

The same applies to the upcoming Patch 2.4.2 which brings with it the expected balance changes and bug fixes, but also a couple of new difficulty levels, adjustments to gold rewards, and a bunch of new items to collect. As of right now Patch 2.4.2 is only available on the Public Test Realms, but it should make its way to the official servers in a couple of weeks, as long as any devastating bugs don't decide to crash the party.

McCree and Widowmaker from Overwatch

After being announced about a week ago the first update for Overwatch has suddenly appeared, even though it was originally slated for late "June". I can only imagine how lopsided Widowmaker's stats were in the hands of good players for this patch to get pushed out so quickly.

As you can probably guess from the title, the unnamed update brings with it nerfs to both McCree and Widowmaker, but also some rather important bugfixes that will definitely have an effect on gameplay as well. Since the patch notes are rather small, here they are in their entirety:

Battlefield 1's promo artwork

With E3 currently in full swing I don't think anyone should be surprised that EA and DICE have decided to showcase some Battlefield 1 gameplay. Though I have to say, its rather encouraging to see them unveil so much of it at once, even though the players at the helm might not represent it in its best light.

As a slight appetizer for the massive video to come, here's the recently shown gameplay trailer that features a variety of new weapons and vehicles, infantrymen riding on motorcycles and horses, and plenty of explosions timed with the music:

Telltale's Batman fighting against Catwoman

After the visually unimpressive Game of Thrones series many were worried if Telltale's dated engine will be able to even handle Batman and his rather colorful cast of villains. Thankfully, these worries have ended up being unfounded as Batman is well on his way to become one of the most graphically impressive Telltale games, especially considering how well the art style fits the comic book theme.

You will find three of the four screenshots below, though unfortunately they are of a small size, but its the art style that counts... right?
