Slay the Spire screenshot of the Defect character

Slay the Spire has recently been on a roll as far as quality updates are concerned. In early June Mega Crit Games added the Defect as a highly entertaining new character, the Endless mode is still being actively worked on in beta, and now they have also introduced the long-awaited third game mode - Custom Mode.

As you might imagine from the name alone, the Custom Mode allows you to tweak a variety of modifiers in order to create and share your own unique challenges. So if you're like me and you have a couple of Daily Climbs you absolutely loved going through, you now have the ability to not only recreate them, but also improve them!

Ys: Memories of Celceta official screenshot of a character looking at a forest in the distance

Unless it encounters some massive issues like the recent Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana, XSEED Games' PC remaster of Ys: Memories of Celceta will be coming this July 25th. Once it arrives you can expect to see support for a variety of resolutions, an unlocked frame rate, fully customizable controls, a brand new Boss Rush game mode, as well as a whole bunch of bug fixes and improvements.

If you're wondering what all of this looks like in gameplay terms, allow me to share with you the recently posted trailer. It's not the lengthiest video around, but it should give you a pretty good idea of what Ys: Memories of Celceta is all about. Have a look:

Screenshot of Ubisoft's game Steep

Steep is Ubisoft's extreme winter sports game that allows you to ski, glide, snowboard, or just faceplant your way across a variety of rather lovely vistas. It's a little bit out of place given the currently scorching summer heat, but who knows, maybe the sight of snow will help some of you cool off!

And what better way to do so than with a whole bunch of free updates, updates that will be arriving on a regular schedule all the way until September 29th. From what I can figure out the main reward behind the newly introduced challenges will be entirely cosmetic in nature, so don't worry if you end up missing out on some of the events as you'll still have plenty of chances to get the fancy new outfit.

Overwatch screenshot of the hamster Hammond and his mech Wrecking Ball

To say that Season 10 of Overwatch Competitive Play has been a disappointment would be an extreme understatement. A whole bunch of heroes suddenly found themselves non-viable due to the rise of double sniper lineups, dive pretty much evaporated outside of the Overwatch League, and worst of all, the same 6-7 heroes kept appearing in every match.

While none of this has changed just yet, I am very glad to say that the newly launched Season 11 will soon bring with it some massive changes. First of all, once the Symmetra rework goes live in Competitive Play I think we're going to see a drastic shift in the meta due to the mobility she provides. Close quarters heroes like Reaper might just find themselves on the top of the food chain, while the combination of Symmetra and Orisa could enable some aggressive Bastion lineups. How exactly all of this will play out in actual gameplay, I'm afraid I have no idea, but it's certainly going to be interesting!

Baldur's Gate 2: Enhanced Edition official artwork and logo

[Update]: After remastering many classic RPGs, Beamdog has now launched a dungeon crawler of their own - Mythforce.

While Baldur's Gate 2: Enhanced Edition is a greatly improved version of the original, and one that actually runs well on modern systems, it unfortunately launched with a whole bunch of bugs of its own. To their credit, Beamdog quickly released numerous updates to correct these issues and has continued to support the Enhanced Edition to this very day, nearly five years after its original release.

This is where the newly released Update 2.5 comes into play as it offers "over 500 fixes and features", as well as new localization and voice acting. Simplified Chinese, Korean, Russian and Polish are the newly supported languages, while the German, Italian and Polish versions have received brand new voice acting. What exactly is the quality of this new localization, I'm afraid I have no idea, but it's always good to see new languages added to the list, even if the translation ends up needing some more work later.

Shenmue 3 official artwork of Shenhua

Shenmue 3 has somewhat recently been delayed until 2019 for both PC and PlayStation 4. While the actual release date is still unknown, I am glad to say that the PC system requirements have now been revealed, which should give you plenty of time to come up with a PC that's going to be able to run it without much trouble.

The game is still in development, however, so don't be too surprised if some of these requirements end up changing by the time Shenmue 3 is closer to launch. With that said, here are the minimum system requirements, straight from the Kickstarter update:

Path of Exile screenshot of the Marauder ascendacy

Path of Exile's most recent Incursion league has quickly turned out to be one of the most enjoyable periods in the game's history. The new temple mechanics are fun to mess around with for both casual and hardcore players, there are new and relatively consistent ways of getting powerful gear, and just as importantly, the accompanying update made a bunch of new skills endgame viable.

With all of that in mind, I'm sure you'll also be glad to hear that are a whole bunch of improvements coming in the near future as well. First and foremost, we'll be getting Update 3.3.1 at some point next week. It'll bring with it two new series of temple rooms, a bit of a Cold Snap rebalance, a variety of bug fixes and small tweaks, as well as some much-needed performance improvements for players with slower graphics cards.

Wrecking Ball artwork for Overwatch's new Hammond hamster hero

From the recently posted teasers it became obvious that the next Overwatch hero is going to either be Hammond (a highly intelligent animal from the Horizon Lunar Colony) or Wrecking Ball (an arena champion from the Junkertown map). As it turns out, the next hero is going to be both - a sentient hamster called Hammond that fights with a gigantic ball-shaped mech called Wrecking Ball!

Since I'm aware all of that sounds completely and utterly insane, allow me to prove that I'm not joking by sharing the recently posted origin story trailer. Have a look, it's quite something alright!

World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth official artwork and logo

To say that World of Warcraft has had a big impact on the game industry would be one hell of an understatement. Its success singlehandedly reshaped the MMO genre and inspired dozens of companies to try their own hand at a theme park MMO, none of which have managed to topple World of Warcraft despite it being around for 14 years now.

So if you're wondering what exactly made World of Warcraft so special, as well as what sort of challenges the developers had to overcome along the way, I would highly recommend you check out the recently posted 'interview' by Wired. The video is fairly long, but if you're a fan of Warcraft or game development in general, it's well worth the time. Have a gander:

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice screenshot of a burning tree

[Update]: Ninja Theory is working on a highly ambitious sequel to Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice.

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice is one of those games I would love to see more of. It had a very specific story it wanted to tell, a fairly modest budget to do so with, a whole lot of creativity behind it, and perhaps most importantly for us customers, a highly appropriate price tag. Did it end up being perfect? Not at all, but it's a lot easier to overlook any problems when a game is both affordable and oozing with creativity.

With that in mind, I am delighted to announce that Ninja Theory's Hellblade has now reached the rather impressive 1 million copies sold milestone! Naturally, this is across all three platforms (PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4), but it is still an impressive achievement and one that should be celebrated.
