Baldur's Gate 2: Enhanced Edition official artwork and logo

[Update]: After remastering many classic RPGs, Beamdog has now launched a dungeon crawler of their own - Mythforce.

While Baldur's Gate 2: Enhanced Edition is a greatly improved version of the original, and one that actually runs well on modern systems, it unfortunately launched with a whole bunch of bugs of its own. To their credit, Beamdog quickly released numerous updates to correct these issues and has continued to support the Enhanced Edition to this very day, nearly five years after its original release.

This is where the newly released Update 2.5 comes into play as it offers "over 500 fixes and features", as well as new localization and voice acting. Simplified Chinese, Korean, Russian and Polish are the newly supported languages, while the German, Italian and Polish versions have received brand new voice acting. What exactly is the quality of this new localization, I'm afraid I have no idea, but it's always good to see new languages added to the list, even if the translation ends up needing some more work later.

As far as new features are concerned, the most important ones are the ability to loot everything at once from containers, improved multiplayer stability, as well as the introduction of tablet dialogue buttons. There's also a new Priest of Tempus kit, some fixes for the Priest of Tyr, importing a ranger character now allows you to select a racial enemy, and the list goes on.

You can find all of the details, and there is a lot of them, over at the official website.
