Natural Selection 2 has received a rather hefty new update - Unearthed

Natural Selection 2 was a fairly niche game when it first launched, and despite numerous updates and improvements, it never really managed to garner much attention from the general public. That doesn't seem to bother the developers, however, given that they have just released a brand new (and rather hefty) update!

The Unearthed update has brought with it a new map and changes to already existing ones, a variety of new skins and models to play around with, as well as some much needed balance changes. While certainly not the most impactful change on the list, I am also incredibly happy to say that the holes in the Lerk and Gorge hitboxes have now finally been fixed! This should hopefully make it so shooting at the flying menaces will be a lot more consistent and a lot less annoying.

[Update]: Paradox is stopping development on Imperator: Rome for the foreseeable future.

If you currently have an excess of free time and a desire to conquer the known world, you might want to check out Paradox's newest grand strategy game - Imperator: Rome. As you would imagine given that it's a Paradox game, Imperator: Rome will task you with managing just about every facet of your empire, fighting against threats from within and from afar, and naturally, endlessly expanding your empire in order to keep the world map nice and evenly colored.

You can get a bit of an idea of what Imperator: Rome looks like in-game, as well as what the whole thing is all about, through the recently posted trailer down below. Have a peek:

Overwatch's Season 16 of Competitive Play has arrived alongside a couple of nice improvements

While the number of heroes, maps and cosmetics keeps increasing year after year, Overwatch's competitive mode has remained relatively stagnant. With that in mind, I am very glad to say that Blizzard has finally implemented some nice changes with Season 16!

The first and most important one for the general playerbase is that Blizzard has now completely removed the off-season break. In other words, as soon as a season ends, a brand new one will begin. A relatively simple change in the grand scheme of things, but certainly a welcome one as the lengthy break was always a complete waste of time for players that didn't care much about non-competitive modes.

The medieval, melee-focused combat game Mordhau has now made its way to PC

A few years have past since Mordhau was successfully funded on Kickstarer, but the long wait is now thankfully over as Mordhau has just made its way to PC. As you would imagine from the preview image alone, Mordhau is a medieval, melee-focused multiplayer game that aims to be as faithful to the time period as possible.

Since trying to explain combat-focused games through words alone is a bit of a pointless venture, allow me to share with you the recently posted gameplay video showcasing a knight rampaging through the front lines. Have a gander, it's quite a fun one:

World of Goo has now received a small remaster, over 10 years after its original launch

While indie games are relatively omnipresent these days, especially on Steam where they can frequently dominate the front page, the situation was much different a decade ago. Back then indie games were an incredibly rare sight and very few of them ever became truly successful, either because they didn't have the marketing clout to actually make themselves known to the players, or simply because storefronts wouldn't accept them.

Despite the deck being stacked heavily against it, World of Goo released in 2008 and achieved an absolutely staggering amount of success, receiving widespread praise from both critics and players alike. Perhaps most importantly, its simple yet enjoyable physics-based puzzles ended up introducing a whole host of players to the wonderful world of indie games, showing them for the first time that even the smallest of games can be well worth a playthorugh.

Valve has now finally unveiled their very own (and very expensive) VR device - Valve Index

It is no secret that Valve has been investing a lot of time and resources into VR over the past few years, but even though the rumors surrounding their projects are far too numerous to recount, we received very little in terms of official information. With that in mind, I am quite glad to say that the endless silence has now finally been broken as Valve has come out to fully announce their very own VR device - Valve Index.

According to the announcement, the Valve Index headset comes with dual 1440x1600 RGB LCDs and runs primarily at 120Hz, with an experimental mode that can push that up to 144Hz. I won't bore you with the technical details as you can find all of those on the official website, but from the looks of things, the Valve Index headset will be a notable improvement over its current competition, both in terms of resolution, refresh rate and visual clarity.

If you're curious about what the whole 'walking simulator' genre is all about, or if you're just up for a bit of a relaxing adventure, you might be interested to hear that Gone Home is currently entirely free as a part of an advertisement for Humble's new "Trove" service. You can find more details about it, as well as the download link for Gone Home, over at the Humble website.

The only catch is that the whole promotion will last until May 3rd, so do make sure to grab yourself a copy as soon as possible. Just to clear any sort of confusion, it's worth mentioning that you don't need to actually play through the whole game within this short time span. Instead, simply secure yourself a copy by May 3rd and it will be yours for good.
