Vermintide 2 studio's Warhammer 40k: Darktide artwork

[Update #2]: My review for Darktide is now live and, long story short, it's as rough and fascinating as the world it takes place in!

[Update]: I have a few bits of good news to share! First of all, Fatshark has released a fancy new cinematic trailer for Darktide showing off the world and the fate of the fan-favorite Guardsmen squad. Furthermore, there's going to be a pre-launch beta starting on November 17th, and last but not least, Vermintide veterans will be getting a small cosmetic DLC as a gift.

If you don't feel like waiting until November 30th to give the Warhammer 40,000 flavored co-op shooter Darktide a try, you'll be happy to hear that the Closed Beta will be launching tomorrow! It'll run from October 14 - 16 and will give you access to all of the characters, a variety of weapons, as well as four maps to make a complete mess out of.

What you can expect to see in terms of gameplay, as well as why the Fatshark team is even running the beta, that you can find out through the trailer below. Have a peek:

MultiVersus official screenshot of Stripe from Gremlins as a new character

[Update]: MultiVersus Update 1.05 has added Black Adam, the first Arcade mode and a "Silly Queue".

Only a few weeks have gone by since MultiVersus threw Rick Sanchez into the arena, and already a brand new update has arrived! This one brings with it Stripe from Gremlins as a fast and aggressive Assassin-type character, as well as a Halloween event featuring a bunch of fancy cosmetics.

First things first, allow me to share with you Stripe's gameplay preview. It should give you a pretty good idea of what his abilities are and just how wacky he truly looks. Have a gander:

Overwatch 2 screenshot of the Cursed Captain Reaper Legendary skin that's being given away for free

[Update #2]: Overwatch 2's Halloween Terror update has now arrived alongside a brand new co-op mission and sadly only three new legendary skins.

[Update]: Unfortunately, Overwatch 2 will only be making balance changes at the start of each two-month season.

Thanks to the server-related bugs, lengthy queue times, problems with the mobile authentication system and even heroes randomly locking themselves, Overwatch 2's launch has not exactly gone by smoothly. So in order to apologize for all of the problems, Blizzard is now planning a small giveaway.

First and foremost, all players who log in between October 25th and the end of Season 1 will be granted the new Cursed Captain Reaper Legendary skin and the rather appropriate Health Pack Weapon Charm pictured below. All you have to do is simply launch Overwatch 2 while the promotion is active and both items will be yours - no further steps required.

Guild Wars 2 artwork for the Shadow of the Mad King Halloween event

[Update #2]: Right on cue, the Shadow of the Mad King Festival has now been unleashed. Have fun messing around with the labyrinth!

[Update]: The Guild Wars 2 team has now revealed the full update roadmap for Fall and Winter 2022.

In celebration of the spookiest time of year, Guild Wars 2 will be unleashing the highly popular Shadow of the Mad King event this October 18th. Much like its previous iterations, Shadow of the Mad King will bring with it an assortment of Halloween themed cosmetics and decorations to mess around with, the Mad King's Labyrinth to endlessly farm for candy-shaped goodies, a devious jumping puzzle to conquer, as well as a couple of fun races to help spice things up a bit.

What all of this looks like in action, that you can check out through the trailer below. Behold pure nonsense:

Chasm: The Rift retro FPS - modern remaster artwork

If you're in the mood for a bit of nostalgia, you'll be happy to hear that the 1997 first-person shooter Chasm: The Rift has now been remastered. The new version brings with it enhanced graphics, support for modern resolutions, improved sound design and the usual assortment of Steam features like achievements.

Since trying to describe an FPS game through words alone is a bit of a pointless effort, allow me to share with you the gameplay trailer. It should give you a pretty good idea of just what Chasm: The Rift looks and plays like. Have a gander:

Prison Architect sandbox game artwork for the Undead, Halloween themed DLC

The previous free update has added aging and everything that comes with it, while the latest Prison Architect DLC has decided to push things even further by fleshing out what happens after death. Well, according to the Undead DLC, it's an overwhelming desire to feast upon as many delicious, delicious brains as you can get your hands on!

Much like in the movies, a person infected by the zombie virus will eventually succumb and become a mindless monstrosity that will then attack everyone that is dumb enough to come near them. Should anyone get bit, that's unfortunately game over for them as zombie bites are quite deadly! So if you and your prison want to survive, you'll need to make good use of the new traps, techniques and weapons (like the always handy chainsaw) in order to push back against the undead menace!

Lego Bricktales puzzle-adventure official artwork and logo

If you're in the mood for smashing bricks together in order to solve a variety of problems, or simply to see just what sort of absurd monstrosity you can create, you might want to check out the freshly released Lego Bricktales. True to its name, Lego Bricktales is a puzzle-adventure that will have you explore a variety of dioramas themed after famous lego sets and help their inhabitants by solving some of their issues one brick at a time.

Rather than continue to babble, allow me to share with you the recently posted launch trailer. It should give you a pretty good idea of just what Lego Bricktales is trying to do. Have a gander:

MTG Arena artwork for the freshly banned The Meathook Massacre card

[Update #2]: I have some excellent news to share! The Brother's War expansion will be massively increasing the amount of Rare and Mythic cards given to players!

[Update]: MTG Arena's big artifact focused expansion The Brother's War is launching on November 15th.

Given the prevalence of black decks throughout the Standard metagame ever since Sheoldred, the Apocalypse popped up with the Dominaria United set, it was only a matter of time before the color got smacked by the banhammer. What might come as quite as surprise, however, is that Wizards of the Coast has decided to only hit a single card - The Meathook Massacre!

"As is often the case, the Standard card pool rotation with the release of Dominaria United caused quite a shakeup, with cards from the new set finding their places into decks, and many of last year's cards shifting context within the new metagame," explains the brief update. "As the format has settled into place, the color black has proven powerful and prolific, and makes up the foundation of many of the top decks."

The Witcher 3 humorous Halloween screenshot of Geralt in a cauldron

[Update #3]: CD Projekt Red will be drastically slowing down development on Gwent: The Witcher Card Game in 2023 and beyond.

[Update #2]: The Witcher 3's next gen update is coming to PC and consoles on December 14, 2022 alongside a free DLC based on the Netflix TV show.

[Update]: Project Canis Majoris has been revealed as a modern remake of the original Witcher game!

While CD Projekt Red most likely has their hands full with the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 expansion Phantom Liberty, that hasn't stopped them from sketching out a rather ambitious roadmap of future releases. Before we begin, it's important to mention that all of these games are still under heavy development and so not only is there barely any information about them, but they also likely won't be launching for quite a few years.

That said, there are three different Witcher projects currently in development. First and foremost, CD Projekt Red themselves will be working on a brand new Witcher trilogy. Accompanying them will be Project Sirius - a The Molasses Flood (Drake Hollow and The Flame in the Flood) developed game focused on "telling an unforgettable story for existing Witcher fans and new audiences." That's not all, however, as Project Canis Majoris will also be joining the group as a third-party, story-driven open world RPG set within the expansive Witcher world.

No Man’s Sky official artwork for Update 4.0 Waypoint

Unlike some of the previous patches that were based around new gameplay mechanics or overhauls, No Man's Sky's freshly released Update 4.0 - Waypoint has decided to instead focus on what was already present. In other words, a good chunk of the Waypoint update has been dedicated to creating a vast array of options for you to tweak in order to fine-tune your gameplay experience.

This means you can mess around with everything from combat balance and your ability to sprint to the amount of natural resources found on planets and even the consequences for dying. And if you don't feel like tweaking things yourself, there are also new difficulty modes to choose from that can help you either explore the galaxy at a nice and casual pace or test your mettle at every step with an assortment of new challenges.
