[Update]: No Man's Sky's April 2022 Outlaws update is all about space combat and skirting the rule of law.

Continuing on with their seemingly endless quest to improve everything about No Man's Sky, Hello Games have now unleashed yet another chunky new update! The appropriately titled Sentinel update brings with it an overhaul of the combat system, a couple of interesting new sentinel enemies to fight against, more variety in the sentinel weaponry and combat strategy, as well as a bunch of visual improvements to make these new battles look as snazzy as possible.

Most importantly of all, the Sentinel update has also brought with it new AI companions! By reverse-engineering one of the sentinel drones you can create your very own (and very adorable) drone companion, while the trusty Minotaur exocraft can now not only be upgraded with an AI core that allows it to assist you in combat, but also with fancy new sentinel tech!

You can get a pretty good idea of what all of this looks like in action through the freshly posted preview. Have a gander, it's a short but sweet one:

All of this is just the tip of the iceberg, so if you're interested in all of the changes and the details behind them, you should head on over to the Sentinel patch notes. There's quite a lot of tweaks and additions to sift through, so you might want to grab a cup of coffee beforehand!

The final thing worth mentioning is that No Man's Sky will be on a 50% discount on Steam until February 28th. So if you ever wanted to give it a try, be that in singleplayer or multiplayer, this would be a pretty good time to jump in. Have fun!
