[Update #2]: My review for Darktide is now live and, long story short, it's as rough and fascinating as the world it takes place in!

[Update]: After playing for about 50 hours now I've decided to create a beginner's guide covering some of the basic concepts and combat strategies. So if you'd like your first run through Darktide to be a nice and pleasant one, I'd welcome you to give it a look.

The Vermintide games are currently celebrating their seventh anniversary, and since the upcoming Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is also a member of the 'tide' series, Fatshark has decided to extend the festivities to it as well. As such, I'm happy to say that I have a couple of exciting bits of news to share!

First and foremost, Fatshark has now released a brand new cinematic trailer showcasing the grim darkness of the Warhammer 40k world, the horrors of warp travel, as well as the fate of the fan-favorite Guardsmen squad from the very first teaser trailer. So before I spoil anything by accident, here's the cinematic:

If that has piqued your curiosity and you're now itching to dive into Darktide, you'll be pleased to hear that you won't have to wait all that long as there will be a pre-launch beta running from November 17-29. In order to enter you'll need to pre-order Darktide, however, so make sure you're into this type of co-op madness before taking the plunge.

The third and final announcement is a small gift to all Vermintide 1 or 2 players - a free copy of the Devoted Rejects DLC for Darktide. As you would expect, the Devoted Rejects DLC is entirely cosmetic and seems to consist of a bunch of hairstyles and tattoos inspired by the Ubersreik five. In other words, the Devoted Rejects DLC is a nice little bonus for veterans, but nothing worth stressing over if you don't own either of the previous games. Even so, I would recommend giving Vermintide 2 a try if you haven't already since it's not only a great deal of fun, but it's also still getting updated despite Darktide being just around the corner!

If Fatshark announces anything else, and once the pre-launch beta goes live, I'll make sure to let you know. Until then, I hope to see you in Vermintide 2!
