Chasm: The Rift retro FPS - modern remaster artwork

If you're in the mood for a bit of nostalgia, you'll be happy to hear that the 1997 first-person shooter Chasm: The Rift has now been remastered. The new version brings with it enhanced graphics, support for modern resolutions, improved sound design and the usual assortment of Steam features like achievements.

Since trying to describe an FPS game through words alone is a bit of a pointless effort, allow me to share with you the gameplay trailer. It should give you a pretty good idea of just what Chasm: The Rift looks and plays like. Have a gander:

If you're still not sure where exactly you stand with Chasm: The Rift, worry not as there is a free demo available! You can check it out, as well as a bunch of reviews (including one from the dev behind Dusk), over at Steam.

Personally I don't have any sort of nostalgia for Chasm: The Rift as I've only run across it a couple of years ago, but even so I found the demo to be a janky yet entertaining experience. So if you're curious, I'd definitely recommend checking it out, if for no other reason than to see how much of an impact Chasm has truly had on the recent wave of boomer shooters.

Have fun!
