After refusing to add the fan-favorite Death Knight class for many, many years at this point, Blizzard has finally relented and given the players exactly what they want. As is to be expected, the new Death Knight class brings with it a variety of unique and interesting mechanics to explore, as well as a sizable amount of class cards to help facilitate all of that.
The most exciting new feature are the Runes whose combinations determine which Death Knight cards you can add to your deck. You can choose to devote yourself fully to one Rune in order to really leverage the strength of a certain type of cards, or mix and match in order to create a deck that suits your needs. It's a fairly simple system to understand, yet it offers a great deal of complexity, so I must admit I'm quite a big fan of the idea.

[Update]: MTG Arena is getting fun jank and competitive staples through Historic Anthology 7 and Explorer Anthology 3 on July 18th.
After a few weeks of teasers and previews, MTG Arena has now unleashed two new mini-expansions to mess around with. However, instead of bringing in more Standard cards, the new additions are all about expanding the Explorer and Alchemy formats.
Explorer Anthology 2, just like its predecessor, brings with it 25 Explorer, Pioneer and Historic legal cards to bolster current deck archetypes and perhaps even create entirely new ones. These include powerful format staples like Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx and Fiery Impulse, as well as janky, Historic Brawl focused cards like Sliver Hivelord and Kozilek, the Great Distortion. You can check out the full list of inclusions over at the MTG website.

[Update #2]: Overwatch 2's Battle for Olympus update has arrived with a fun novelty game mode and some truly awful challenges.
[Update]: Overwatch 2 has just nerfed Doomfist, Sojourn and Tracer, while Roadhog has managed to escape his fate... for now!
Last week Overwatch 2's Season 2 update arrived with Ramattra as a brand new tank hero, a new escort map by the name of Shambali Monastery, as well as a whole host of balance changes. Unfortunately, while the idea behind the balance tweaks was a noble one, the numerous buffs have ended up creating a far, far bigger problem than what we had before.
So in order to sort this newfound mess out, Blizzard has just announced that there will be a balance update coming later this week. The exact list of changes has not been announced just yet, but you can look forward to Doomfist, Roadhog, Sojourn and Tracer getting nerfed, while the newcomer Ramattra will most likely be getting some major buffs given how weak he currently is.

After going through a few rounds of delays, Firaxis Games' turn-based RPG Marvel's Midnight Suns has now finally been unleashed for PC and consoles. However, despite being a tactical turn-based game from the XCOM studio, Marvel's Midnight Suns is by no means a copy of it.
Not only does the combat system utilize cards and combos instead of relying on random rolls, but there's also a much greater focus on storytelling and character interactions. In fact, between all of the various systems and dialogues, there's a good chance you'll spend just as much time managing things and talking to people as you will fighting. So if you're here purely for the turn-based combat, you might end up being somewhat disappointed.

[Update #2]: Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree expansion is launching on June 21st with a rather large price tag.
[Update]: Elden Ring's very first expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree, has just been revealed!
If PvP is your bread and butter in the Souls games, you'll be happy to hear that Elden Ring's latest Update 1.08 is all about facilitating it! The mighty Colosseums in Limgrave, Caelid and Leyndell have now finally opened up their doors, and with that comes a variety of new PvP modes to mess around with.
The Limgrave Colosseum brings with it two distinct game modes: Combat Ordeal which is essentially a free-for-all brawl where the goal is to get as many kills as possible before the timer runs out, and United Combat which is just a fancy name for team-based deathmatch.

[Update]: Back 4 Blood will not be getting any more content updates as Turtle Rock Studios are now working on a brand new game.
While the whole thing got slightly overshadowed by the release of Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, the co-op focused Back 4 Blood has just recently launched a sizable new expansion. The ominously titled River of Blood brings with it the sixth chapter of the story campaign containing five new maps to explore, as well as a rogue cultist by the name of Tala that comes with a friendly tallboy bodyguard named Jeff!
You can also expect to see a couple of new weapons such as the flamethrower, the first set of attachments for melee weapons, as well as a whole host of new cards and cosmetics to collect along the way. And if you're in the mood for a bit of friendly competition, the River of Blood expansion has also added Trial of the Worm as a new game mode with its own leaderboards.

[Update]: It took over a decade for us to get here, but Armored Core VI will finally be launching on August 25th, 2023!
In an announcement that might not come as too much of a surprise given that its existence was leaked all the way back in January, Dark Souls and Elden Ring studio FromSoftware are now working on a brand new Armored Core game! The details are still few and far between, but what I can tell you is that Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon will allow you to pilot a mech in full 3D and engage in fast-paced battles with both melee and ranged weaponry.
Throughout your journey you'll also be able to go toe to toe with gigantic bosses, as well as upgrade and customize your mech with new armor pieces and weapons. Unsurprisingly, Armored Core VI will be continuing with FromSoftware's staple 'challenging but fair' design philosophy, so you can expect to see some deviously difficult combat encounters that will likely wipe the floor with you a dozen times over before finally letting you taste that sweet, sweet victory!

After two years of Epic Games Store exclusivity, Ubisoft's Viking flavored open world action-adventure Assassin's Creed Valhalla has now landed onto Steam. More importantly, it has done so alongside a sizable discount which has brought the price down from €60 to €20.
This discount also extends to the various DLCs, so if you find yourself liking what Assassin's Creed Valhalla has to offer, consider giving those a try as well. Don't dawdle for too long, however, as the sale will be going away on January 5th.

[Update]: The Dead Space remake has now landed onto PC and consoles, and so far it's looking quite good!
If you're looking for something to help pass the time until the Dead Space remake lands onto PC and consoles this January 27th, you might want to give the freshly released The Callisto Protocol a look. To put it quite simply The Callisto Protocol is a sci-fi survival horror that's all about exploring claustrophobic environments, carefully managing your resources, and as you would expect given its inspiration, tearing mutated monstrosities apart limb from limb!
You can get a pretty good idea of what all of this looks like in action, as well as how closely The Callisto Protocol mirrors Dead Space, through the launch trailer below. Have a gander:
