Dead Space official artwork and logo for the survival-horror remake

If the dour weather has sparked a bit of an interest in survival-horror, you'll be pleased to hear that the Dead Space remake has now arrived onto PC and consoles. The new version has been completely rebuilt from the ground up and, unsurprisingly, comes with improved visuals, audio and gameplay mechanics while still staying true to the original's vision.

Since a picture is worth a thousand words, and a video has a whole lot of pictures, allow me to share with you one of the extended gameplay previews. That should give you a pretty good idea of just what the Dead Space remake is all about, as well as how it compares to the original. Have a look:

I'm still fairly early in the campaign so I can't offer you a proper review, but so far I must say I'm rather impressed with the Dead Space remake. Aside from a couple of stylistic differences (Isaac talks in this one), the remake is incredibly faithful to the original game while still fixing up some of the jank and even expanding the amount of available content. So if you're a fan of Dead Space, or survival-horror games in general, I'd say the Dead Space remake is well worth looking into.

You can do so, as well as check out some of the player reviews, over at Steam. Have fun, and do make sure to turn up the audio a bit as it really is quite atmospheric!
