Payday 3 screenshot of the four main masks lined up

[Update]: Payday 3 has now arrived alongside a surprising amount of server problems.

After a few years of subtle and not-so-subtle teasers, Starbreeze Studios have now finally started talking about Payday 3 again! Much like its predecessor, Payday 3 is going to be a fast-paced, co-op focused shooter that rewards both stealth and overwhelming violence in equal measure.

The story, if you even care about such things in a Payday game, will take place a couple of years after the original crew's rampage in Washington DC. Due to some sort of mysterious threat rearing its ugly head the crew is going to be forced to cancel their early retirements and once again don their iconic masks. I'd love to tell you more, but that's pretty much everything Starbreeze has revealed so far.

Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse official artwork and logo for the remastered version

Given that the first two Sam & Max seasons were successfully remastered in 2020 and 2021 respectively, it should come as little surprise to hear that Skunkape Games are hard at work on remastering the third and final season - The Devil's Playhouse. The exact details are currently shrouded in mystery, including the actual platforms, but what I can tell you is that Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse Remastered will be launched in 2023.

Judging by the previous two remasters, however, it's highly likely that The Devil's Playhouse Remastered will be released onto PC, Xbox, PlayStation and Switch. That said, the previous two games had a somewhat staggered launch, so don't be too surprised if The Devil's Playhouse Remastered doesn't arrive onto every platform at the same time.

Baldur's Gate 3 artwork and logo for the story-focused RPG

[Update #2]: After three years in Early Access, Baldur's Gate 3 has now launched to overwhelming praise!

[Update]: Baldur's Gate 3 will be launching onto PC nearly a month ahead of schedule, on August 3rd.

If you're like me and you're patiently waiting for Baldur's Gate 3 to get fully finished before finally diving in, you'll be happy to hear that Larian Studios have now announced a tentative release date. As long as everything goes according to plan, Baldur's Gate 3 will be leaving Early Access and properly launching onto PC in August 2023.

Given that Google is shutting down Stadia this January, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise to hear that the Stadia version of Baldur's Gate 3 will be not launching as planned. As for the regular console versions, nothing new has been announced just yet, though if the two Divinity: Original Sin games are any judge you can expect to see the Baldur's Gate 3's console ports to arrive at some point next year.

Street Fighter 6 fighting game artwork showing off all 18 of the basic characters

After a whole bunch of teasers and previews, Capcom has now finally revealed that Street Fighter 6 will be launching onto PC and consoles on June 2nd, 2023. The newest version of the fighting game classic will bring with it greatly enhanced visuals courtesy of the RE Engine, a story-focused singleplayer mode where you can create a brand new character and use them to explore the world, a new real-time commentary system to add a bit of hype to the matches, as well as eighteen characters to mess around with.

Speaking of which, Capcom has taken this opportunity to unveil four of them. Long story short, once Street Fighter 6 arrives you can expect to see Super Street Fighter II's Dee Day make an appearance alongside three rather outlandish new fighters: the stylish and grappling focused Manon, the slow yet incredibly powerful Marisa, as well as the control and area-denial orientated JP.

Sifu martial arts roguelike game artwork showing off the main character and logo

After about a year of Epic Games Store exclusivity, the martial arts roguelike Sifu is now slowly getting ready to release onto Steam as well. It won't be doing so emptyhanded, however, as once it arrives at some point in March 2023 Sifu will bring with it a brand new Arena Mode.

In total, the update will add nine stylish new maps to explore, each one featuring a variety of new and tricky challenges to overcome. Progressing through the arenas will unlock a massive array of new modifiers to customize your gameplay with, a set of alternative moves to help spice things up even further, and even new outfits and cheats to mess around with.

World of Warcraft: Dragonflight artwork showing off Alexstrasza

[Update #2]: Dragonflight's Update 10.0.5 is coming January 24th with grey/white transmog and the cosmetics-focused Trading Post

[Update]: Dragonflight's January 10th update will be all about buffing the underperforming classes and specializations.

One of the biggest issues World of Warcraft has faced over the course of the past two expansions has been the extremely slow influx of new content. After all, there's only so many times you can go through the same dungeons and raids before things start feeling rather stale, which is far from ideal for a game that's asking for a monthly subscription.

In order to sort this problem out, the World of Warcraft: Dragonflight team has just announced that they will be emulating Legion's 11-week content update cadence. In other words, you can expect Dragonflight to receive six major content updates throughout 2023!

Steam "Best of 2022" artwork for the games showcase

[Update]: Steam Awards 2022 winners have now been revealed, though unfortunately they're somewhat uninspired.

In celebration of all the excellent games released this year, as well as all of the older ones that have managed to stay relevant despite immense competition, Valve has now revealed the most successful and popular titles of 2022. The giant list has been divided into a variety of categories (top sellers, new releases, most played, early access graduates, best of VR and Steam Deck), each one with four different tiers to help organize things. It's well worth mentioning that while the higher tier games are more successful or popular than the ones below them, the exact position of each game within its tier is entirely random.

As for the games themselves, it should come as little surprise to hear that the list of Platinum (1st-12th) top sellers includes a variety of seemingly omnipresent games like Apex Legends, Dota 2, Destiny 2 and Elden Ring. What might come as a bit of a surprise, however, is that Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel and Naraka: Bladepoint are a part of this rather exclusive club despite there being very little talk about them outside of their own communities!

High On Life official artwork for Justin Roiland's comedy focused FPS game

After messing around with comedy-focused VR games for a couple of years, Justin Roiland's studio Squanch Games have now decided to attempt something a bit more ambitious - an FPS game that blends together fast-paced action and Rick and Morty inspired off-the-wall humor. And you know what? They've done an excellent job at it!

On the gameplay front High On Life is a fairy competent shooter with some fun mechanics to mess around with, though it's nothing too special in the grand scheme of things. What really sets it apart, however, is the sheer amount of creativity that has gone into designing its world, characters and even the weapons. Something insane or stupid happens pretty much every couple of minutes, so even though the gameplay itself might get a bit repetitive after a while, there's very little time to think about any of that because the boss has just shoved a small furry thing into his brainbox!

Dishonored: Knife of Dunwall screenshot of an assassin hiding near the harbor

All you have to do is head on over to the Epic Games Store, add Dishonored to your account, and you'll be good to go after a bit of a download.

Naturally, there is a time limit you'll want to watch out for. The giveaway will only last until January 5th, so do make sure to snag Dishonored before it goes away! Once you've done that you'll be able to play it whenever you want and for however long you want.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning official artwork and logo for the action-RPG remake

The gift-giving season is well and truly upon us, and so the Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning team has decided to unleash a brand new update for everyone to enjoy. It brings with it a new Arena Mode that will have you, unsurprisingly, fight against hordes upon hordes of challenging enemies across three new arena locations.

The difficulty will increase with each encounter you conquer, as will as the rewards, so do make sure to gear yourself up before you step into the arena. And if you're feeling particularly bold, make sure to complete the various round challenges in order to receive even greater rewards!
