World of Warcraft: Classic artwork of the Onyxia battle

[Update]: World of Warcraft: Classic is bringing back Layering in order to combat lengthy queue times and server lag, though worry not as this will only be a temporary measure.

When it comes to World of Warcraft: Classic, there has been no feature more controversial than the layering system. Essentially, the layering system allows Blizzard to have servers within servers, all in an effort to ensure that there are plenty of players in each zone, as well as to avoid the extremely lengthy queue times that have marked the early days of the original World of Warcraft.

While the layering system has done its job admirably in this regard, it has also caused a couple of issues. Most notably, players aware of how the layering system works were able to constantly shift between them and farm rare materials almost endlessly. Blizzard quickly put a stop to this by introducing a variety of restrictions so things never really got out of hand, though the core problem still remained.

[Update]: Apex Legends' Season 4 will bring with it another new legend - the deadly Revenant.

If you're looking for an excuse to boot up Apex Legends, the newly released Season 3 update is certainly a good one. Not only has it brought in a massive new map to explore, but it has also added Crypto as a new Legend, as well as the Charge Rifle as a brand new energy sniper to toy around with!

The Season 3 update has also rebalanced a whole bunch of weapons, somewhat reshuffled the loot, as well as adjusted how the ranked mode functions. You can find the full details over at the developer update, but the most important thing you need to know is that assists now matter just as much as kills. In other words, playing as a team and focusing fire will no longer be inadvertently punished in the ranked mode!

[Update #2]: The Nether update has now arrived, and it's a pretty big one!

[Update]: Minecraft's newest snapshot (beta) update has now finally brought in the Nether improvements!

Out of all the regions in Minecraft, the Nether is probably the most disappointing one to explore. It's almost entirely monotonous in color, you're constantly walking through treacherous terrain, and there is barely anything of interest to find there. Not exactly ideal for a zone that is supposed to be awe-inspiring.

In order to sort this little problem out, as well as breathe some fresh new life into it's lava-riddled caverns, Mojang has now announced that the next major Minecraft update will be all about the Nether. While the details are still few and far between, the Nether update will bring with it multiple new biomes to explore, new enemies to either fight against or trade with, as well as a whole bunch of new items to collect.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy official artwork and logo

While the Humble Monthly tends to feature one or two high quality games each month, usually they are slightly older games that have already been on some sort of deep discount. The upcoming November bundle breaks all of these traditions by not only offering three high quality games, but also one that has only just released on PC: Call of Duty WWII, Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, and most importantly, the Spyro Reignited Trilogy.

Considering that the Humble Monthly is a $12 subscription service, this is an absolutely insane deal. Spyro has only just released on PC and has never been on a massive sale, while both Crash Bandicoot and Call of Duty have merely gone down to around $20 during their sales. So if you're curious about any of these games, I'd say it's well worth hopping over to the Humble Bundle website and grabbing the November Monthly.

Killing Floor 2 screenshot of the new map Ashwood Asylum

[Update]: Killing Floor 2's summer 2021 update lets you escape the scorching heat by going into space!

As is the case with every October, Killing Floor 2 has gone all-out with the Halloween atmosphere and decorations. All of the malformed enemies have received even spookier models based around famous horror monsters, while the players themselves will get to enjoy the appropriately grim Ashwood Asylum map and accompanying cosmetics.

Naturally, there's also a bunch of weapons to endlessly smash ZEDs with, though this time around they're split between paid weapons and free ones. On the free front you have the HRG Healthrower for the medic that spews out a stream of healing gas, HRG Nailgun for the SWAT that does exactly what you might thing it does, and the HRG Buckshots for the Support that are essentially repurposed revolvers that now fire ridiculously oversized shells.

After spending over five years in development, the free-to-play focused Dauntless has now finally launched from Early Access. The release version brings with it whole bunch of monsters that are in dire need of slaying, a variety of weapons and upgrades to customize your character with, and as is tradition these days, a Season Pass that's focused around cosmetic rewards.

You can get a pretty good idea of just what all of this looks like in game, as well as what sort of monsters Dauntless will have you endlessly bash your head against, through one of the recent trailers. Have a gander, it's a pretty brief one:

Overwatch artwork showing Sigma and Talon

[Update]: Blizzard has now greatly reduced the power of shields on the PTR in order to further weaken the double shield meta.

Overwatch has recently introduced Role Queue and a 2/2/2 lock across all main game modes, and while those were generally positive additions, they have unfortunately caused a bit of a balance problem. As it turns out, buffing Orisa for an entire year has made her significantly stronger than other tanks, which combined with the newly released Sigma has led to the rise of the incredibly tedious double shield compositions.

In order to break away from this made and make Overwatch a bit more dynamic again, Blizzard has now released a rather hefty PTR update. You can find the full list of changes over at the official update, but for now here are all of the major hero changes:

Subnautica: Below Zero screenshot of a leviathan encased in ice

[Update #2]: Subnautica: Below Zero has now launched from Early Access, and without any sort of major technical issues!

[Update]: The Deep Dive update has now added the Shadow Leviathan and a variety of new biomes to explore.

If you've been using Subnautica's islands as a way to escape the dangers that lie within the depths of the sea, I'm afraid you'll have to change up your strategy in Subnautica: Below Zero as the developers have just added the mighty Ice Worm. As the name itself would suggest, the gigantic beast tunnels through the icy surface, always on the lookout for tasty explorers it can munch on!

Besides the new gigantic new leviathan, this update has also added two new biomes to explore. The first are the Lilypad Islands that provide a fairly surreal environment to roam around in, and one that's full of shallow-dwelling creatures you'll need to keep an eye on. On the opposite side of things we have the Arctic Spires, a frozen wasteland dotted by large cliffs and guarded by the Ice Worm itself. Certainly a dangerous region to explore, but also one that will have a lot of significance to the story at some point in the future.

[Update]: Apex Legends' Season 3 patch has now arrived, and as expected, it's a pretty fun one!

It's only been a little while since the Wraith themed Voidwalker event has arrived, and already Apex Legends is preparing itself for another batch of new content. However, instead of a simple event, this time around we're looking at the start of Season 3.

Once Season 3 arrives on October 1st you can expect to see a brand new hacker Legend by the name of Crypto, an awesome-looking new map called World's Edge, as well as the rather devastating new Charged Rifle weapon. There will also be a new Battle Pass with a variety of items to collect, as well as a whole bunch of improvements to the Ranked Mode.

Vermintide 2 screenshot of Sienna fighting Beastmen

[Update #2]: A brand new update has now arrived, and as expected, it has brought in even more Beastmen nerfs .

[Update]: As expected, the newest update has now tweaked the Beastmen animations even further.

Vermintide 2's Winds of Magic has arrived a little while ago, bringing with it the Beastmen as a brand new faction to fight against. While the addition was certainly a welcome one, the Beastmen ended up proving themselves to be far stronger than their Skaven and Chaos cousins, especially on the higher difficulty levels.

So in order to sort this little problem out, Fatshark has now released a pretty sizable update that's almost entirely about the Beastmen. Just about everything from their behavior to their damage has been tweaked in some way, which should make them significantly more pleasant to fight against, or as pleasant as a bunch of unwashed goatmen can possibly be.
