After spending over five years in development, the free-to-play focused Dauntless has now finally launched from Early Access. The release version brings with it whole bunch of monsters that are in dire need of slaying, a variety of weapons and upgrades to customize your character with, and as is tradition these days, a Season Pass that's focused around cosmetic rewards.

You can get a pretty good idea of just what all of this looks like in game, as well as what sort of monsters Dauntless will have you endlessly bash your head against, through one of the recent trailers. Have a gander, it's a pretty brief one:

While I personally find Monster Hunter: World to be far more enjoyable, Dauntless does have one big advantage over its competitor - it is entirely free-to-play. So if you're in the mood for hunting giant monsters and using their spiky bits to create weapons capable of hunting even bigger monsters, I'd say that Dauntless is a pretty good starting point. This goes doubly so if you have a couple of friends that can join you, and not just because you can have them get eaten instead of you!

To learn more about Dauntless, as well as potentially give it a try, you should head on over to the official website. Have fun!
