[Update]: After a brief beta test, this update has now been released alongside a few more bug fixes.

Ever since the Winds of Magic expansion released, the difficulty level in Vermintide 2 has risen quite sharply. While this is partly due to the stagger changes that require more team-based tactics, the bigger reason are the newly introduced Beastmen. Not only do they seem to attack far more frequently than the other two factions, but their animations and behavior are significantly harder to figure out at a glance.

Fatshark has tried to fix them many times before, and while all of these patches have certainly helped, the Beastmen still remain Vermintide 2's most powerful faction. Things will hopefully be changing in the near future, however, as Fatshark has now unveiled a brand new beta update!

First and foremost, the odds of Beastmen spawning at any given point in a level has been reduced. So while they will still be around, it's unlikely you'll end up in situations where pretty much the entire level is covered in Beastmen. A relatively small change, but quite an impactful one in my eyes as variety really is the spice of life, even when it comes to Chaos-twisted abominations.

Personally, I've kinda missed seeing hordes of Chaos Warriors roaming around

Furthermore, the update is also polishing up the Ungor (spear-wielding Beastmen) and Gor (axe-wielding Beastmen) attack damage triggers. In other words, their attack animations will now more closely match when the actual hit is delivered. This will hopefully prevent situations where you can get stabbed by a Beastman that's barely halfway through his swing, thus making the faction as a whole significantly more fun and fair to fight against.

To check out the beta for yourself, all you need to do is head on over to Vermintide 2 in your Steam Library. From there, go into properties, click on the betas tab, and then select "2.2.1_experimental" from the dropdown menu. After a little while the beta download should begin automatically, but if that doesn't happen, simply try and restart Steam.

You can read a little bit more about the update over at the official website, and with that said, I wish you the best of luck with the new Beastmen!
