Abandon Ship screenshot of a Kraken attack

As the title would suggest, Abandon Ship is a naval strategy/adventure game that's most similar in spirit to FTL. You will need to take control of a single ship and its small crew in order to explore a massive and randomly generated world, solve a variety of quests that for me tend to end with one of my crewmen getting eaten, and naturally, fight off a whole horde of pirates, cultists and other such nasties that would love nothing more than to plunder your ship.

If you're wondering what all of this might look like in-game, wonder no more as the developers have shared posted a launch trailer. The video isn't very long, but it should give you a pretty darn good idea of what to expect from Abandon Ship. Have a look:

Subnautica screenshot of a giant alien octopuss underwater

After quite a few patches and a whole lot of time in Steam Early Access, the underwater exploration/survival game Subnautica has now finally released. So if you were waiting for the developers to polish up all of the content before giving it a try, now would be the time to dive in as the current version of Subnatuica is pretty damn good!

If you're unfamiliar with Subnautica, or if you're just wondering how much the game has improved since it first released in Early Access, allow me to share with you two of the recent trailers. The first is the cinematic trailer that sets up the story and atmosphere, while the second one showcases the actual gameplay. Have a look:

Seven: The Days Long Gone screenshot of the character at the rooftop's edge

Seven: The Days Long Gone is a 3D isometric RPG that lets you freely explore a massive sandbox world. You have the ability to climb just about anything in order to avoid guards or potential obstacles, the tools needed to sneak through an enemy compound in order to plunder its riches, or if the situation favors you, the option to launch a full-on assault with a combination of weapons and magic.

If you're wondering what all of this might look like in-game, or at the very least what the combat mechanics are all about, you'll find what you seek in the recently posted trailer. Its not overly long, but i'll give you a good idea of what to expect from Seven. Have a look:

Gunhead screenshot of a giant alien brain hidden inside a star ship

Gunhead is a newly announced and fast paced open-world FPS where you get to play as a pirate mech with a gun for its head. Replacing one's head with a gun might sound excessive, but if you're in the business of looting derelict ships filled with monstrous drones and aliens, I suppose its a price you just have to pay.

If you're wondering what all of this nonsense might look like in-game, wonder no more as the developers have released a brief teaser trailer. It's not very long, but it'll give you a pretty good idea of what to expect from Gunhead... though I have a feeling you already know what's coming. Have a look:

Doom inspired artwork for Hellmut: The Badass from Hell

Hellmut: the Badass from Hell is a fast-paced dungeon crawler that lets you take on the demonic hordes with a variety of highly destructive weapons and skills. You can expect to see randomly generated worlds filled with equally random bosses, plenty of treasure and weapons to liberate from your enemies, and naturally, a very casual relationship with realism or common sense.

Since the gameplay is pretty much the only thing that matters in these types of games, allow me to share with you the recently posted announcement trailer. It should give you a pretty damn good idea of what to expect from Hellmut. Have a look:

Hand of Fate 2 screenshot of the dealer and a "Village Burns" card

Hand of Fate 2 is a bit of a curious game. Its essentially a combination of an action-rpg, a deck-building card game, and a roguelike dungeon crawler. How it works is that each overturned card reveals some sort of challenge or effect, which can range from an action-orientated combat section that is very reminiscent of the modern Batman games, to a short minigame, or just some good ol' fashioned choose-your-own-adventure decision making. The most interesting part of this whole system is that the various different elements are interactive, so if you have a couple of armor and weapon cards, you can actually use them in the combat sections to give yourself an advantage!

As you can see, all of this is not exactly the easiest concept to explain through words alone, so allow me to instead share with you the launch trailer. Its not a very long video, but it should give you a pretty damn good idea of what Hand of Fate 2 is all about and how it plays. Have a look:

Guacamelee! 2 official artwork and logo

The original Guacamelee! is a highly enjoyable Mexican-themed brawler with more than a fair share of Metroidvania elements. Its all about wondering through a giant world, collecting new powers which you can use in combat and for exploration, dashing and jumping across any obstacles you might encounter, stringing together massive combos in order to exploit an enemy's weakness, and other fun stuff like that.

With all of that in mind, I hope you can now understand just how happy I am to say that Guacamelee! 2 has just been announced at Paris Games Week 2017! You can get a brief look at what Guacamelee! 2 has to offer via the recently posted teaser trailer. Have a gander:

Among the Sleep screenshot of the talking teddy bear

Among the Sleep is an indie horror game in which you play as a two year old child search for its mother in the middle of the night. In order to do so you will have to explore a highly atmospheric world where fantasy and reality often intertwine, as well as a solve a variety of puzzles in order to cross even the simplest of barriers, as you are after all a young child.

I personally didn't find it to be very scary, but the atmosphere was laid on so thick I simply couldn't stop playing until I was done with the relatively short campaign. As such, I am very glad to say that Among the Sleep will be getting an enhanced edition with improved visuals, smoother gameplay, new dialogue, a brand new level, as well as a variety of performance tweaks this November 2nd.

Re:Legend official artwork and logo

Re:Legend is an adorable multiplayer RPG that combines monster raising with elements from life sim games, elements such as: farming, fishing, crafting, village building, and so forth. It was successfully Kickstarted back in August, and is now expected to arrive in June of 2018 for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch. However, as with all Kickstarter projects its important to keep in mind that delays can and will happen, so don't be too surprised if you hear about Re:Legend getting pushed back into late 2018.

As for the gameplay itself, what better way to demonstrate it than with a lengthy gameplay trailer! You can find the video right below, and I would recommend you give it a look as Re:Legend is quite the cutesy game:

EITR screenshot of a lovely campfire drawn in pixel art

EITR is a challenging isometric action-RPG with some stunning pixel artwork backing it up. It features a variety of different weapons with unique playstyles, enemies that require strategy and timing in order to beat, tons of randomized loot, as well as a highly punishing difficulty system that rewards the patient and spurns the hasty.

While the only gameplay trailer I could find is around two years old, it should still give you a pretty damn good idea of just what EITR is all about. Have a look, but just keep in mind that what you're looking at is some extremely early-alpha footage:
