[Update #2]: Terraria's likely final update "Labor of Love" has now arrived with a bunch of improvements.

[Update]: Terraria and Core Keeper are doing a small crossover to celebrate Terraria's upcoming Labor of Love update.

It would appear that today is the unofficial indie crossover day! Not only has Dead Cells added weapons and outfits themed after six other indie games, but Terraria and Don't Starve Together have now launched their very own crossover updates as well!

Funnily enough, the whole crossover started from an offhanded comment during Re-Logic's AMA (Ask Me Anything) on Reddit. The team was asked what game or universe they would love to do a crossover with, to which the answer was Don't Starve. And as it so happens, a member of the Don't Starve team noticed that comment, contacted Re-Logic, and the whole Terraria X Don't Starve Together update was set in motion quickly after.

[Update #2]: Dead Cells' second big indie crossover update has added Terraria, Slay the Spire and Risk of Rain themed items, among others.

[Update]: Dead Cells' "Enter the Panchaku" update has added pan-based nunchucks and reworked legendary items.

Dead Cells has seen a fair few updates over the course of its development, though this newest one is certainly the most unique! Instead of simply adding a couple of new items and calling it a day, Dead Cells' 26th update "Everyone is here" has opted to instead theme everything around six popular indie games!

As such, you can now look forward to using fancy new weapons from Blasphemous, Skul: The Hero Slayer, Guacamelee, Hyper Light Drifter, Curse of the Dead Gods, as well as Hollow Knight. Blasphemous has brought with it the 'healing' Face Flask weapon, Curse of the Dead Gods has added a new Machete and Pistol combo to play around with, while Guacamelee's inclusion allows you to transform yourself into a chicken and lay egg-bombs in order to fight your enemies.

[Update]: The big crossover update has now arrived, and unsurprisingly it's looking like a pretty fun one so far.

After a whole bunch of teasers over at Twitter, Dead Cells' studio Motion Twin has now finally revealed that the next big update will feature six indie game crossovers! The games in question will be Blasphemous, Skul: The Hero Slayer, Guacamelee, Hyper Light Drifter, Curse of the Dead Gods, as well as Hollow Knight.

While the exact list of changes has not been announced just yet, you can expect to see themed cosmetics, abilities and items based on each game. For example, Blasphemous will bring with it the "reviving" bile flask, Guacamelee will let you transform into a chicken, while Hollow Knight's inclusion will allow you to bounce on the heads of your enemies.

[Update]: I've now reviewed World of Horror's version 1.0 and I'm happy to say that, despite some issues, it's a highly enjoyable roguelike!

World of Horror is a roguelite horror-adventure heavily inspired by the works of Junji Ito and H.P. Lovecraft, all tied together with a stylish retro 1-bit art style. Unsurprisingly, World of Horror is all about trying to figure out what sort of monstrosity is currently haunting the world, learning what makes it tick and what are its weaknesses, and then hopefully getting rid of it for good without losing your head in the process.

If all of that sounds like something you'd love to sink your teeth into, you'll be happy to hear that after a lengthy hiatus World of Horror will be getting a major update later this month! While the details are still few and far between, judging by some of the teasers over at Twitter it seems like it'll bring with it a bunch of new events to explore, which I must admit is exactly what I wanted to see.

[Update]: January 24th has now arrived, and with it Hidden Deep has now launched into Early Access!

Hidden Deep is an upcoming horror-action game heavily inspired by oldschool classics like The Thing and Aliens. What this means in gameplay terms is that you will spend a lot of time exploring cramped underground caverns, avoiding all sorts of nightmarish monstrosities with specialized equipment like grappling hooks and terrain scanners, and when all else fails, dealing with the problem directly through either firepower or heavy machinery.

As for what exactly all of this looks like in actual moment-to-moment gameplay, that you can find out through the recently posted trailer. Have a gander:

Baba is You official artwork for the Editor update

Out of all the puzzles games I've ever played, Baba is You is probably the one that made me alternate between feeling like a complete genius and an addle-brained moron the most. Still, despite the massive difficulty curve I persevered as there was just something remarkably addictive about using simple mechanics in insanely creative ways to solve problems, often while breaking reality itself in the process.

With all of that in mind, I hope you can realize just how delighted I am to announce that Baba is You is soon getting a bunch of new content! The Baba Make Level update will bring with it a fully fledged level editor, over 150 new puzzles with new objects, art and music, over 100 puzzles that "showcase unused designs and cut content", as well as a bunch of bug fixes and random tweaks.

Deep Rock Galactic artwork for the Season 1 update

[Update #2]: Deep Rock Galactic's Season 3 - Plaguefall update has added fancy new grenades, enemy variants and mission objectives.

[Update]: Deep Rock Galactic's chunky Season 2 update is bringing in new weapons, enemies and fancy beards on April 28th, 2022.

It has taken quite a while to get here, but Deep Rock Galactic's Season 1 update has now finally arrived and it's glorious! It brings with it a free Season Pass style system filled with challenges to complete and cosmetics to unlock, an assortment of new weapons and upgrades to toy around with, a new mission and many new events, and the list goes on for a while.

Rather than babble on, allow me to share with you the recently posted developer preview. It'll give you a pretty good idea of just what Season 1 brings to the table and how it all looks like in action:

Haunted Chocolatier screenshot of the haunted manor

After spending an impressive ten years with Stardew Valley, the solo developer Eric Barone (ConcernedApe) is now finally moving onto his next project - Haunted Chocolatier. As the name would suggest, Haunted Chocolatier will have you manage a massive haunted manor, collect and grow an assortment of ingredients to create the most delightful chocolates possible, as well as run a little shop in which you will actually get to sell your candy.

What all of this looks like in actual gameplay, that you can get a little bit of a peek at through the freshly posted trailer. Have a gander, it's unsurprisingly a rather charming one:

Choo-Choo Charles official artwork without logo

[Update]: Choo-Choo Charles has now arrived, and as you would expect it's really short, a bit janky, yet also quite fascinating.

When it comes to horror games, be they AAA or indie, usually the monster is some sort of zombie, werewolf-like creature, Lovecraftian bundle of tentacles, or just a good ol' fashioned ghost. The newly announced Choo-Choo Charles, however, has chosen to take things in a bit of a... different direction.

So instead of the mainstream monster menagerie, Choo-Choo Charles will have you fight a demonic train while riding around on a train of your own! While the concept sounds absolutely ridiculous, the freshly posted trailer sells the idea extremely well. Have a gander:

Lemnis Gate official artwork without logo

I hope you're in the mood for something completely different, because the freshly released Lemnis Gate is no average arena shooter. Instead of having standard PvP duels with clear winners and losers, every Lemnis Gate match consists of five alternating turns set within a 25 second time loop!

The way it all works is deceptively simple. You have 25 seconds to do your actions, be they shooting an enemy in the face or setting up traps, after which the opponents get to take their own turn. Once everyone is done the next 25-second round will begin and you'll have to deal with all of the chaos both teams caused beforehand.
