World of Horror ribcage woman artwork

[Update]: I've now reviewed World of Horror's version 1.0 and I'm happy to say that, despite some issues, it's a highly enjoyable roguelike!

World of Horror is a roguelite horror-adventure heavily inspired by the works of Junji Ito and H.P. Lovecraft, all tied together with a stylish retro 1-bit art style. Unsurprisingly, World of Horror is all about trying to figure out what sort of monstrosity is currently haunting the world, learning what makes it tick and what are its weaknesses, and then hopefully getting rid of it for good without losing your head in the process.

If all of that sounds like something you'd love to sink your teeth into, you'll be happy to hear that after a lengthy hiatus World of Horror will be getting a major update later this month! While the details are still few and far between, judging by some of the teasers over at Twitter it seems like it'll bring with it a bunch of new events to explore, which I must admit is exactly what I wanted to see.

While you wait for the big update to arrive, it's also worth mentioning that World of Horror has a free demo available. It's a little bit outdated at this point, though it should still give you a pretty good idea of what you're getting yourself into, as well as keep you nice and occupied until more maddening monsters manifest.

Once Update 0.9.84 goes live I'll make sure to let you know. Until then, I'll leave you with the original announcement trailer. Enjoy!
