Indie roguelike Dead Cells artwork for the pan-based nunchucks and the Enter the Panchaku update

[Update]: Dead Cells has now added a Boss Rush mode with souped-up enemies and a bunch of fancy rewards.

Continuing with the seemingly never-ending stream of free patches, the Dead Cells team has now unleashed the "Enter the Panchaku" update. The star attraction, as the name might suggest, is the mighty panchaku - two frying pans tied together with a piece of string, which are not only great for carving your way through enemies, but they can even reflect bombs and projectiles in the middle of the combo!

Keeping on with the food theme, the update has also spiced up the weapons and skills with some much-needed balance tweaks. Weapons like the Smoke Bomb and Grappling Hook have received scaling nerfs, the Gilded Yumi has been reworked in order to be more functional in just about every respect, and the list goes on for a while.

Most importantly of all, the whole legendary item system has been redesigned in order to make them more exciting to use. Now instead of simply giving you more damage, legendary items bring with them powerful effects that you can work around in order to unlock the true potential of your build.

What all of this looks like in actual gameplay, that you can find out through the freshly posted trailer. And yes, the panchaku is just as ridiculous as it sounds! Have a gander:

If you're interested in the exact numbers behind all of the balance tweaks, as well as what the new cosmetic additions are all about, you can find what you seek over at the official patch notes. Enjoy!
