Fallout 4's Survival Mode Beta Is Now Live, And Very Deadly
- By Ash
- in News
Bethesda has been teasing this Survival Mode update for a couple of months now, and from what I'm hearing on various forums it was well worth the wait as it turns the casual stroll through the Commonwealth in to a true struggle for survival where even the smallest of wounds can spell doom.
If you would like to give it a try for yourself and see how long it takes before diseases strikes you down, Survival Mode Beta is currently available on Steam, and it sports an impressive list of changes and additions. If you're looking for detailed descriptions head over to the Bethesda website, but if its a short overview that you seek, I've prepared one:
Desura Is Now Back Up After Being Unavailable For Over A Week
- By Ash
- in News
Many years ago Desura served as a place for small and niche indie games to earn some recognition in the public's eye, and hopefully enough sales to be considered worthy of entering the walled gardens of Steam. However, ever since Steam stopped curating their store and allowed easy exposure for thousands of indie games, Desura lost its main advantage, and eventually filed for bankruptcy.
To make matters worse, the whole Desura website went down over a week ago without a single word of warning, taking all of the player libraries with it. Thankfully, it now seems to be back online, as noticed by a user named Foamed.
Street Fighter V's Upcoming Costumes Have Been Datamined

Yesterday's big Street Fighter V patch brought with it the Challenge Mode and numerous other changes, but it also paved the way for special costumes that will be arriving tomorrow alongside the in-game store.
As you might expect, some crafty players have already managed to not just datamine all of the costumes, but also import them in to the game and present them in a neat video. Here's the video and some of the skins, courtesy of the Street Fighter Subreddit. Just try not to laugh at poor Ken, he's going through a sensitive period:
Killer Instinct Requires Your PC To Pass A Performance Test Before Playing Online

Killer Instinct is now available on the Windows Store, and much to the amazement of many, you first need to pass a performance test before being unleashed upon other players.
But don't worry, its not a giant, evil barrier stopping you from playing online, instead its a rather ingenious system that ensures Killer Instinct's online matches don't devolve in to a slideshow due to a player's poor system performance affecting the entire match. Here's the short version of how it works, and why its an excellent idea:
The Next Call Of Duty Might Be Heading To Space
- By Ash

If you're sick and tired of modern military shooters I might have some great news for you as the biggest one of them all, Call of Duty, is rumored to be transitioning to Space Warfare with the next iteration.
This information comes from Shinobi and Eurogamer, two sources that have almost always been correct with their insider information, so it seems highly likely that the next COD will be a space-faring one. Here's the brief announcement Shinobi posted:
Overwatch Victory Taunt Is Being Replaced After Fan Complaints About Over-Sexualization
- By Ash
- in News
At this point its safe to say that the lively and energetic Tracer has become the official mascot for Overwatch, and with such popularity come ridiculous amounts of nitpicking.
Time time around the complaints are centered on Tracer's victory taunt that has her looking over her shoulder towards the camera in an "uncharacteristically sexy pose", and while these sort of "discussions" almost always devolve in to a virtual shit-flinging match, this one has managed to remain relatively civil with both sides bringing up interesting arguments. Here's an excerpt from the main post:
FORCED Showdown Is An Action Roguelite With Deck Building Elements That's Releasing On Steam Today
- By Ash
- in Indie Games
FORCED Showdown is primarily a single player "twin-stick" action RPG that has you traverse various colorful arenas littered with deadly traps, challenging enemies, and bosses that need to keep their TV ratings high by smashing you in to a pulp.
Its being made, unsurprisingly, by the same team behind FORCED, a co-op action RPG that employed many similar elements and mechanics to great effect, albeit with a healthy dosing of bugs to go along with it. Since FORCED Showdown is releasing on Steam later today I figured I would bring it to your attention, starting with the overly cheesy trailer:
