Far Cry Primal Is Getting A Proper Survival Mode On April 12
- By Ash
- in News
Survival modes must be rather popular among AAA developers as we just recently had Fallout 4's survival update launch in to beta , and already there is an announcement for Far Cry Primal and its take on stone age survival. If this is a new trend in the making, it is one that I am fully behind, bring on actually difficult content and less bullet- spongy enemies!
The aptly named Survivor Mode will be arriving to Far Cry Primal on April 12, and bringing with it a much more ruthless and brutal gameplay experience. While there isn't much information about the Survivor Mode just yet, here's what Ubisoft did reveal, starting with the announcement video:
Hi-Rez Have Kept Their Promise - Tribes: Ascend Has Just Received A Brand New Balance Patch

Tribes: Ascend has never been extremely popular, but it always had a decently-sized core of extremely loyal players, which at one point included me. Unfortunately, through a series of poor decisions Hi-Rez Studios managed to not just run the game in to the ground, but pierce the Earth's core as well. Eventually the developers were pulled from the project and Tribes: Ascend slowly faded in to obscurity, with only a faint echo of "SHAZBOT!" in the distance to remind people of its existence.
Until rather recently when Hi-Rez Studios decided to do right by their fans and bring new life new life in to Tribes: Ascend in the form of an absolutely titanic update. They also promised that would be only the first in a series of updates, and judging by the large patch that appeared on Steam a few hours ago, I would say that they did not disappoint. Here are the patch notes:
Samorost 3 Review - A Strange New World

I never was much of a point & click fan, mostly because their convoluted, alien logic tends to clash heavily with my "keep it simple" style of thinking that was beat in to me through years of programming courses. That doesn't stop me from giving the genre a try every so often, but despite my best efforts I frequently either resort to a walkthrough or just get frustrated enough to quit entirely.
Out of all the games I've puzzled my way through, I can only really say a couple were genuinely fun to me, from the beginning to the very end. This exclusive company contains games such as: The Secret of Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, Machinarium, Deponia, and now Samorost 3.
Black Desert's First Free Expansion 'Mediah' Is Arriving Today (March 30th)

Less than a month has gone by since Black Desert first launched, and already there is a massive free expansion arriving. While I'm certain no one will complain about more content, it does feel like this expansion has arrived a bit too prematurely as its unlikely many people are even near the end-game just yet.
Black Desert: Mediah brings with it a 30% increase to the world size, numerous new quests and enemies, a giant boss to spar against, a 40v40 PvP zone and a whole lot more. Here's the Mediah Expansion trailer and what exactly is coming with it:
Paragon's Balance Patch And New Soul-Eating Hero Are Now Available

As I've noted before, the main issue with Paragon is the somewhat wonky balance, and characters that are far, far superior at their roles than their competition. This is exactly the issue that Update 22.1 aims to address by reducing the power of Grux and Feng Mao, two fighters with an extremely high win rate and equally great damage output.
Along with their changes comes Sevarog, a new soul-stealing tank that thrives in the jungle and slowly builds up his power by devouring minion after minion. Here's a developer video showcasing what exactly Sevarog brings to the table, and the patch notes themselves:

I doubt this is going to come as a surprise to many of you, especially given how critically acclaimed Shadow of Mordor was, but there is good evidence that a sequel is in the works.
This information comes via Nerdleaks who managed to find Shadow of Mordor 2 listed in the CV of the famous stunt actress Lauren Mary Kim, who also worked on Tomb Raider, Batman Arkham Knight, Assassin's Creed Unity and more.
Blizzard Is Making A Series Of Warcraft Books Aimed At Younger Audiences

If you're completely new to World of Warcraft you might find its lore somewhat hard to get in to, especially now that Blizzard has started dabbling in alternate realities, time travel, resurrecting story characters that have already died multiple times, and so forth.
Things are even rougher when you consider that the younger generations don't have over a decade of exposure to all things Warcraft, which would be the exact reason why the World of Warcraft: Traveler book series is currently being made. Here's the trailer (books apparently have those now) and the plot synopsis Blizzard has posted up:
