Elite: Dangerous will support all VR tech including Oculus Rift

If you're an avid reader of gaming news you would have notices plenty of headlines today stating that Elite: Dangerous developer Frontier will not be supporting Oculus Rift going forward.

As it turns out there was quite the misunderstanding and Frontier has recently issued a follow-up statement saying that they plan to support all forms of VR and are actively working with the Oculus team. Here's the full quote:

Two new Diablo themed heroes will be entering Heroes of the Storm soon

In a recent interview for Metabomb Dustin Browder talked in depth about all things Heroes of the Storm, from matchmaking improvements, to balance changes and the two upcoming heroes. If you're interested in how the HOTS team works behind the scenes and what influences their decisions I'd recommend you give the interview a read since I'll just focus on the two new additions here.

Two two upcoming heroes are Xul the Necromancer from Diablo 2 and Li Ming the Wizard from Diablo 3. As of right now there is no release date or official info on the heroes but here's an overview of what's known about them:

Necropolis is an upcoming Dark Souls inspired roguelike from the creators of the excellent modern Shadowrun games

Necropolis is an upcoming third person roguelike with a heavy focus on exploration, weighty combat and plenty of loot to plunder from trap-filled dungeons. It is being made by Harebrained Schemes, the folks behind the excellent modern renditions of the Shadowrun RPG so odds are its going to be good as well.

Overwatch will get a new game mode in the upcoming mid-February beta

I've said this before and I'll say it again, I love this new open and talkative team Blizzard has assembled for Overwatch. After years of getting the silent treatment from WoW and SC2 developers its so very refreshing to once again have confidence in Blizzard.

In a recently released blog post Jeff Kaplan, game director for Overwatch, discussed the current state of the game and what features we can expect in the upcoming mid-February closed beta test. Here's a short summary:

Five Nights at Freddy's gets a cutesy colorful RPG

What is the first thing that comes to your mind when someone says Five Nights at Freddy's? Is it the horrifying animatronics, the extremely deep and convoluted storyline or perhaps the high stress gameplay?

Well, FNaF World is none of those things. It is a cheerful and light RPG starring cutesy versions of your favorite metal abominations and even though it was supposed to release next month it has manifested itself today on Steam. Here's the trailer:

Torment beta will begin on January 21st for Kickstarter backers

Long War mod team is going to launch multiple mods alongside XCOM 2

My excitement for XCOM 2 knows no bounds at this point and its not due to their trailers or press releases but rather Firaxises willingness to involve their most dedicated community members with the game's development even before launch. To me that clearly shows confidence in the game and respect for the community that made XCOM truly great.

In a blog post that went up today Firaxis has announced that Long War Studios, the guys behind the excellent Long War mod for XCOM, are hard at work on multiple XCOM 2 mods that will release alongside the game. Here's the announcement message:
