Microsoft has announced cross-platform play between the Xbox One and PC

After years of being adamant against cross-platform play, despite the fact that their main competitors were doing it, Microsoft has finally announced that they will be adding native cross-platform support to their Xbox One and Windows 10 games.

Right after Microsoft's statement, Psyonix came out and confirmed that Rocket League will support PC and Xbox One cross-network play in the near future. Here's the message from Microsoft and a bit of exciting foreshadowing:

Oddworld: Soulstorm is coming in the latter half of 2017

[Update]: Oddworld: Soulstorm has now hopped onto PC and PlayStation.

The classic Oddworld platformer series returned from the dead last year with the well received Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty, a modern remake of the original Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee.

Given the success of New 'n' Tasty its not surprising that Oddworld: Soulstorm has been announced today, but what is uprising is that its not going to be a remake of Abe's Exodus, a sequel to Abe's Oddysee, but rather a brand new game with a much darker and sinister plot.

Hearthstone update has brought in Lady Liadrin, more deck slots and other features

Blizzard has been on a rampage recently. First they've announced updates for Warcraft 3 & Diablo 2 after years of absence, and now Hearthstone has received a rather massive patch as well.

Today's Hearthstone patch brings with it extra deck slots, Lady Liadrin as the alternate Paladin hero, a new deck suggestion feature and a couple of other fixes. Here are the full patch notes and a short overview of the main feature:

Automatron DLC is coming on March 22nd for $10

Automatron is the first in a series of expansions planned for Fallout 4 that brings with it murderous robots, a new story chapter, and most importantly, the ability to create your very own robotic abomination by combining various pieces of scrap.

It will be out on March 22nd, and in order to give you an idea of what sort of madness you can get up to with your new robot companion Bethesda has released a teaser trailer. Have a look, it has robots with eye lasers!

Unreal Tournament map - DM Chill

Unreal Tournament, despite being in early alpha, is shaping up to be a worthy successor to Unreal Tournament 2004 which is by no means an easy task.

It still has a long way to go until proper release, but the developers are hard at work when it comes to adding new toys to play around with as well as maps to use them on. The newly added map (DM-Chill) brings the carnage to a Nordic fortress set high in the icy mountains, have a look:

Gears of War: Ultimate Edition is getting a new patch next week

Despite Gears of War: Ultimate Edition being one of the front-liners for the Windows 10 Store, Microsoft released it with barely any advertising, and worst of all, terrible performance issues.

There is a glimmer of hope, however, as the GoW team has announced that next week's update will include performance improvements, the removal of mouse smoothing and a couple of other nifty features. Here's the list of everything coming next week, and after that an overview of which issues are currently being worked on:

Details about Mirage: Arcane Warfare

Mirage: Arcane Warfare, the latest game from Chivalry developers Torn Banner Studios, was announced last week though any actual gameplay details about it were nowhere to be found.

As it turns out, a couple of days after that announcement the developers sneakily updated the FAQ section with a whole bunch of information, both on Mirage and its connection to Chivalry. Here's the blood-drenched trailer and a brief overview of what to expect:

Warcraft 3 is getting a new patch on March 15th

I'm not sure what exactly Blizzard is planning, but I like what they are doing regardless. First Diablo 2 received a patch that fixed many glitches and improved compatibility with modern systems, and now Warcraft 3 is getting a similar treatment.

This news comes from a short video Robert Brindenbecker, head of the classic games group at Blizzard, made in order to announce Blizzard's continued support of the Chinese Warcraft 3 scene. Have a look:

Croteam has released the source code for the Serious Sam Engine

In celebration of Serious Sam's 15th anniversary Croteam are releasing the source code for Serious Engine v1.10, an update version of the engine in which the first two Serious Sam games were made.

It is a very old engine by this point, so don't expect it to be as simple to use as Unity or Unreal Engine 4, but if you're in a tinkering mood then why not see what made some of the most classic PC FPS games tick. Here's the brief announcement message and download instructions:

Rise of the Tomb Raider now has DirectX 12 support

I've said this a couple of times already, but the team behind the PC version of Rise of the Tomb Raider is staffed with some seriously talented developers. Ever since its January release date they've managed to launch multiple patches, each of which brought impressive performance gains and graphical upgrades.

But the most important update, titled simply as 1.0.638.6, came out yesterday and brought with it DirectX 12 support, performance improvements across the board, and a couple of bug fixes to boot. Here are the patch notes and a short developer explanation of how exactly DirectX 12 helps out with performance:
