MTG Arena official promo art for the Baldur's Gate set

[Update #2]: MTG Arena's October 6th mini-expansion will bring with it the iconic Power 9 cards.

[Update]: MTG Arena's Dominaria United set has now arrived alongside the annual Standard rotation.

After mostly focusing their balancing efforts on the Historic and Alchemy constructed formats, Wizards of the Coast has now set their sights onto something a bit more ambitious. Instead of merely tweaking a couple of cards to shake up the meta, they have chosen to fix all of the major problems with the recently launched Alchemy Horizons: Baldur's Gate draft!

As such, a variety of blue cards have received buffs in order to give the color a better fighting change in the early game, while some of the more aggressive white and black cards have been toned down. Most excitingly, at least for those of us that love reanimator strategies, a whole suite of ramp and graveyard synergy cards have received a much-needed boost in power which should make getting to the late-game a lot more manageable than before!

[Update]: Thanks to the success of Spider-Man Remastered, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales will be swinging onto PC in Fall 2022!

Unlike some of the previous PlayStation ports like Horizon Zero Dawn, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered has now made its way to PC without too much technical trouble. Instead, the PC version brings with it all of the content bundled into one package, unlocked framerates and support for ultra-wide monitors, ray-traced reflections and improved shaders, as well as full mouse and keyboard customization.

What all of this technobabble looks like in action, that you can get a pretty good idea of through the recently posted PC features trailer. Have a gander:

Apex Legends Season 14 screenshot of the new sniper-focused legend Vantage

[Update]: Season 15 has now arrived with Catalyst as a brand new Legend, the sizable Bad Moon map and a bunch of improvements.

After experimenting with different maps and gameplay ideas, for Season 14 Apex Legends has decided to return to where things began all those years ago - Kings Canyon. In order to sort out some of the long-standing criticisms about the map, including things like bad loot pools and the constant threat of being third-partied, the Apex Legends team has now once again reworked and expanded parts of the map.

Skull Town has been reborn as a part of the new Relic point of interest, while some of the classic locations like Hillside and Relay have been reshuffled in order to make them more interesting to fight in. Various pathways through the map have also been removed in order to make rotations more meaningful, while the loot quantity and quality across the map has been tweaked in an effort to avoid everyone dropping in exactly the same locations.

Total War: Warhammer 3 official artwork for Valkia the Bloody from the Champions of Chaos pack

[Update #2]: Immortal Empires has now been unleashed alongside Total War: Warhammer 3's biggest update ever!

[Update]: Khorne lovers rejoice, Total War: Warhammer 3's August 23rd patch will finally be adding the missing blood & gore effects!

This August 23rd Total War: Warhammer 3 will be getting its biggest update to date. It'll bring with it the Immortal Empires combined campaign map, a major rework of the Warriors of Chaos faction, numerous buffs and tweaks to many of the forgotten Total War: Warhammer 2 lords, as well as the first post-launch DLC containing four powerful Chaos champions and god-themed units.

During the last round of previews Creative Assembly focused on Vilitch the Curseling and Tzeentch trickery, while the newest and final Champions of Chaos DLC preview now brings with it a far more straightforward lord - Valkia the Bloods and the legions of Khorne. You can get a pretty good idea of what they look like in action through two of the trailers below, starting with the somewhat abrupt cinematic short:

Overwatch's final update Anniversary Remix: Vol. 3 screenshot of Genjiman Genji recolor

[Update]: Overwatch 2's new characters will be locked behind the free track of the Battle Pass.

All good things must eventually come to an end, and so Overwatch has now unleashed its final event, and very likely final update as well. Anniversary Remix: Vol. 3 brings with it some fancy recolors of highly popular skins like Academy D.Va and Sentai Genji, the ability to snag all of the previous event skins at a (mostly) cheaper price, as well as a rotating playlist of event-exclusive game modes and missions.

Since the cosmetics are most likely the reason you're even curious about the event, allow me to share with you the freshly posted trailer highlighting all of them in action. Have a little peek:

Marvel's Midnight Suns turn-based RPG from the XCOM team

[Update #2]: After a few rounds of delays, Marvel's Midnight Suns has now landed onto PC and consoles.

[Update]: Great news, Marvel's Midnight Suns will be launching in 2022 after all!

If you were hoping to get your hands on Marvel's Midnight Suns at some point this year, I'm afraid I bring some bad news. In a brief announcement over at Twitter, Firaxis has revealed that their upcoming turn-based RPG has been delayed yet again.

"After discussion with the team, we've made the decision to move back the launch timing of Marvel's Midnight Suns to ensure we are delivering the best possible experience for our fans," reads the brief developer update. "We will launch later this fiscal year on Windows PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5, with the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch versions following at a later date."

[Update #2]: Blizzard will be adding cross-platform progression with Overwatch 2.

[Update]: Overwatch's final event, and likely final update as well, has now arrived alongside some fancy reskins.

With Overwatch 2 now fast approaching, Blizzard has decided to gift Overwatch one last update before they truly commit everything to the long-anticipated sequel. Unfortunately, instead of a triumphant update that would bridge the gap between the two games and give Overwatch the send-off it truly deserves, the upcoming Anniversary Remix: Vol. 3 is mostly just more of the same.

So much like the previous two remix updates, Anniversary Remix: Vol. 3 will give you another chance at grabbing an assortment of old cosmetics from various events, as well as a couple of snazzy new recolors. The exact list of recolors has not been announced just yet, but you can get a little bit of a sneak peek at what is to come by heading over to the Overwatch Twitter.

Official artwork and logo for the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

[Update]: The Open Beta is now live on both PC and consoles.

If you're itching to give Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 a try before its launch on October 28th, you'll be happy to hear that an open beta has just been announced. PlayStation players will be the first ones to jump in on September 16th, while the PC and Xbox crowd will be able to follow on September 22nd.

There is a small catch, however. The first two days of each beta event (so September 16-17 and September 22-23) will be reserved exclusively for early access players, or in other words, those that have pre-ordered the game. This means that if you're simply planning to give Modern Warfare 2 a try on PC without spending any sort of money, you'll only be able to play from September 24-26. A bit of a bummer, but it should still be more than enough time to figure out where you stand with Modern Warfare 2.

In an announcement that shouldn't come as too much of a surprise given the radio silence surrounding the game, Embark Studios have now revealed that their free-to-play, robot-smashing shooter ARC Raiders has been delayed. While there is still no exact release date, you can expect to see ARC Raiders make its way onto PC, PlayStation and Xbox at some point in 2023.

"ARC Raiders is an ambitious game, and we will be using this extra time to expand the experience, and allow it to reach its fullest potential," reads the brief update. "We will be diving into more details as soon as we start to test the game more extensively with players."

Dragon Ball FighterZ fighting game screenshot of Goku powering up

If you're a fan of Dragon Ball FighterZ, I have both good and bad news to deliver. The good news is that after four years of requests, Bandai Namco and Arc System Works have finally announced that Dragon Ball FighterZ will be getting rollback netcode!

Needless to say, this is an absolutely massive change as unlike the current delay-based netcode, rollback netcode produces a far less laggy environment for online matches. It's not as good as playing against someone in person, but for any sort of online tournaments or even casual matches, it's definitely the superior and much more stable option.
