Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion official screenshot showing off ship combat

If you've missed the previous Humble Bundle giveaway, you might be happy to hear that Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion is now once again free to grab. However, instead of Humble Bundle, this time around you'll need to head on over to Steam to secure yourself a copy. Just add it to your account and you'll be able to play it whenever you want.

Much like the previous giveaway, there is a bit of a harsh deadline this time as well. The giveaway will only last for another two days, or until December 19th at most likely 1pm ET, so I would highly recommend you grab yourself a copy before it goes back to the usual €40 price tag.

Dishonored 2 screenshot made entirely in black and white

[Update]: Thanks to a partnership between Bethesda and GOG, the entire Dishonored series and the first two modern Wolfenstein games are now available DRM-free.

If you're looking to give Dishonored 2 and its spin-off Death of the Outsider another try, you might be interested to hear that Bethesda has now released a new batch of free content for both games. The only catch, as you might imagine, is that you will have to log in with your Bethesda account in order to access all of it.

The first of these additions is the new "Mission+" mode that allows you to go to any previously completed mission in order to experiment with all of the powers and weapons at your disposal. While it's likely to break the balance on some of the earlier missions, it should be a good bit of fun to completely terrorize the poor guards that have been sent to stand in your way.

Assassin's Creed: Odyssey screenshot of a close quarters ship battle

In an effort to push the limits of streaming technology, Google has recently started testing their Project Stream service. According to the brief description, Project Stream offers you the ability to play games in 1080p and 60 FPS directly in your Chrome browser, with Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed: Odyssey being the game they're currently testing the system on.

If that sounds like it's right up your alley, you might also be interested to hear that Ubisoft is giving all Project Stream participants a free copy of Assassin's Creed Odyssey, as well as $10 worth of Helix credits to mess around with. The only catch is that you have to spend at least one hour playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey in Project Stream by January 15th, which shouldn't exactly be hard to accomplish.

Anthem official artwork showing off the character classes

Anthem is BioWare's upcoming co-op focused action-RPG that's all about mowing down hordes of enemies, flying around with various types of jetpacks, and naturally, collecting piles upon piles of loot. All of that is fairly standard stuff, but what might come as a bit of a surprise is that Anthem will attempt to diversify the usual shoot and loot formula by also focusing on the type of storytelling and decision-making many have come to expect from BioWare games.

How exactly all of that will pan out, I'm afraid I don't know, but what I can tell you is that BioWare has now gone into great detail about how the gear and progression systems will work in Anthem. Here's the full developer preview, as well as my brief summary:

Conan Unconquered screenshot of a village under heavy siege

A while ago Funcom announced that they are working on multiple Conan the Barbarian games. The first of these games was the survival-focused Conan Exiles, and as you might imagine from its namesake, it involves a whole bunch of constantly-angry barbarians running around and hitting each other over the head with giant swords. So the question is, how do you make the next Conan game stand out while still keeping to the series' themes?

Well, according to Funcom and Petroglyph, the answer is to bring Conan the Barbarian into the strategy genre as a game remarkably similar to They Are Billions. In other words, the newly announced Conan Unconquered is all about building up your stronghold, mustering a giant army, and then standing proud as waves after waves of bloodthirsty barbarians and monsters crash harmlessly against you.

Street Fighter V screenshot of Kolin in battle

If you're a fan of fighting games and you've somehow managed to avoid playing Street Fighter V entirely, you might be interested to hear that Capcom is currently running a free weekend. Simply head on over to Steam, go through the somewhat lengthy download, and you'll be able to beat up the AI or your fellow players until December 19th at 10am PT.

In terms of content, you will have access to all 16 original characters, including fan-favorites like Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li and M. Bison. Three DLC characters will also be available for free throughout this trial: Guile, Akuma and Sagat. As for the game modes, you'll be able to mess around with the Arcade, Versus, Challenges and Training modes, which should give you a pretty good idea of what Street Fighter V is all about.

CS:GO official artwork for the Danger Zone game mode

Given the massive success of Epic's Fortnite, it really shouldn't come as much of a surprise to hear that any game able to fit a Battle Royale mode, is trying to do exactly that. The latest contender in this already crowded genre, and one I genuinely expected would be able to weather the Battle Royale storm and just do its own thing, is Valve's tactical shooter Counter-Strike: Global Offensive!

If you've played any Battle Royale game so far, CS:GO's newly added Danger Zone mode should feel instantly familiar. After all, it's all about choosing a place to drop into, stocking up on resources and weapons, and naturally, using all of the tools and tricks at your disposal to hunt down all of your enemies.

Subnautica screenshot of a Reaper Leviathan attack

The Epic Games Store, Epic' competitor to Steam and other similar storefronts, has just recently gone live with a small but quality selection of games. So in order to get as many people as possible to at least check it out, Epic have announced that they will be giving away a new game every two weeks throughout 2019!

The first on the list, as you would imagine from the title alone, is the excellent undersea exploration/adventure game Subnautica. In order to secure yourself a copy you should head on over to the Epic Games Store, create or log in with your account, and then click on that giant "Free" button. It's a fairly straightforward process, but just make sure not to take too long as Subnautica will only be available until December 27th.

Artifact screenshot of the Axe card

Valve's card game Artifact launched a few weeks ago, though unfortunately it has done so alongside quite a few problems. The in-game features were incredibly barebones, there was no actual ranked mode or serious progression, you couldn't communicate with your opponent in any way, and to top it all off, there were extremely limited ways of earning more cards, and all of those required you to invest some money first.

With all these issues and a rapidly degrading playerbase, things are not exactly looking good for Artifact right now. Thankfully, it does appear that Valve is taking things seriously as they have just released a major update, and they are planning to release another one at some point next week.

If you're looking for a couple of games to cuddle up to in order to avoid the freezing cold, you might be interested to hear that the GOG Winter Sale has now arrived. Better yet, it has done so alongside a giveaway for the excellent LucasArts graphic adventure Full Throttle Remastered!

While the Winter Sale itself will last for three full weeks, until January 3rd, Full Throttle Remastered will only be free for a limited time. And I really do mean limited as the giveaway will only last for another ~12 hours! So if you're even remotely curious about it, I would highly recommend you hop over to GOG and claim yourself a copy.
