MTG Arena official alternate artwork for Llanowar Elves

With the holiday season now well and truly upon us, MTG Arena devs have decided to spread the holiday cheer with a free Pauper event. So bring your most powerful deck constructed only out of common cards, and see how far your skills will take you in a format that's quite different from the usual ranked mode shenanigans.

Besides being a pretty fun game mode to mess around with, the reason you should definitely dive into the Pauper event is because it has also brought with it the very first cards with alternate artwork since the closed beta. The two alternate cards on offer are Llanowar Elves and Firemind's Reaserch, and I am glad to say that both of them look pretty darn good!

Guild Wars 2 screenshot of the Elder Dragon Kralkatorrik from the All or Nothing update

About three months have gone by since the previous "A Star To Guide Us" episode, which is why I am very glad to say that the grand storyline will soon continue with Episode 5: All or Nothing. You can expect to see a massive battle against the Elder Dragon Kralkatorrik, a new Fractal by the name of Siren's Reef, as well as a large new map to explore. The details are still few and far between, but those of you that have played the original Guild Wars might be happy to hear that the map will prominently feature the Dwarven Thunderhead Keep!

Besides all of the new areas to roam around in, the All or Nothing update will also add a new Legendary bow to craft, a new mount mastery to unlock, as well as a variety of new gear and weapons to play dress-up with. Here's a brief preview of what all of this will look like in game:

Overwatch Winter Wonderland screenshot of Hanzo getting hit by a snowball

Even if you're currently overstuffed with cake and not in the mood to play Overwatch, you might still want to turn it on as Blizzard is currently giving away five Winter Wonderland loot boxes. You don't even need to do anything spacial in order to claim them. Simply launch Overwatch, accept the prompt that appears on your screen, and that's quite literally it.

The only catch is that this giveaway will last for a short amount of time, though no exact end date has been given just yet. So if you have your PC or console on hand, I would highly advise you claim the free loot boxes sooner rather than later, just to be on the safe side.

Vermintide 2 screenshot of Gardens of Morr from the Back to Ubersreik DLC

Vermintide 2's latest Back to Ubersreik DLC brought in five new weapons to toy around with, three remastered classic maps to explore, and perhaps most impressively of all, a lengthy treasure hunt that led to a secret new game mode! I won't spoil the surprise if you're up for hunting down all of the secrets yourself, but what I will say is that Fatshark has now also added a second treasure hunt as a part of the festive Mondstille update!

You'll find all of the details in-game as a part of an achievement, but long story short, you'll need to scour four specific maps in order to find hidden bonfires that unlock the very first (and very icy) animated portrait. These maps are: Hunger in the Dark, Fort Brachsenbrucke, War Camp and Skittergate. The Skittergate and War Camp ones are fairly easy to find if you look for strange new additions, but if you're going in blind for the Hunger in the Dark and Fort Brachsenbrucke ones, do make sure to be thorough with your search as they are rather deviously hidden!

Screenshot of NieR: Automata's 2B in Soulcalibur VI

After being teased all the way back in October, NieR: Automata's combat android 2B has now made its way to Soulcalibur VI as a new DLC character. As you might expect, 2B's combat style consists of fast melee attacks that can be easily combo-ed together, as well as a variety of ranged attacks that come from her support unit and allow her to do coordinated strikes.

If you're wondering what all of that looks like in gameplay terms, allow me to share with you the original teaser trailer for 2B. Have a gander, it's a fairly short but enjoyable video:

Hearthstone official artwork for the Troll King Rastakhan

Hearthstone's latest expansion Rastakhan's Rumble arrived a little while ago with 135 new cards in tow, as well as a couple of new mechanics to play around with. While that is certainly a large influx of new cards, they have unfortunately not be able to make much of an impact on the meta given how entrenched and well-optimized some of the decks have become over the past few months.

With that in mind, I am delighted to announce that Blizzard has now revealed nerfs to pretty much all of the meta decks, and perhaps most importantly, nerfs to Druid's most powerful ramp spells! Here's what's changing:

Pillars of Eternity 2: The Forgotten Sanctum DLC artwork and logo

If you're up for giving Pillars of Eternity 2 another try, you might be glad to hear that the final DLC The Forgotten Sanctum has now arrived with mostly positive reviews to back it up. Perhaps more importantly, it has also arrived alongside a massive free update that has fixed numerous bugs and added eleven new subclasses to toy around with!

But first things first, if you're curious about what exactly The Forgotten Sanctum DLC is all about, allow me to share with you the recently posted trailer. It's not exactly long, but it should give you a pretty good idea of what to expect:

If you've got some spare time and a need for speed, you might want to check out the latest Humble Bundle. It's full to the brim with various Sonic games, including Sonic Mania, Sonic Forces, Sonic Generations, and my personal favorite, Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed.

You can find out everything you need to know by visiting the Humble "Sonic" Bundle, but for now allow me to share with you all of the games and the pricing tiers they appear in. Have a look:

Planetside: Arena official artwork with the logo

[Update]: PlanetSide Arena will be closing down its servers on January 10, 2020.

With Fortnite dominating the PC/console world and PUBG Mobile sporting a ridiculously large amount of downloads, it has become clear that Battle Royale games are not just a passing fad. As such, pretty much every FPS game that can fit a Battle Royale game mode is attempting to do just that, including games like CS:GO that have traditionally managed to completely ignore trends in the gaming world.

However, while most of those games have had to rework everything from the ground up in order to fit a large amount of people on one map, games like Planetside 2 pretty much already have the whole "massive multiplayer shooter" thing figured out. With that in mind, you might be intrigued to hear that the Planetside 2 devs will soon be taking a crack at the Battle Royale genre with the newly announced (and standalone) Planetside: Arena.

Overwatch's Reaper looking at his very own cookie

Given the cinematics they've put out so far, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise to hear that the Overwatch team has now released a special animated short for the holiday season. What might come as a bit of a surprise, however, is that instead of the usual 3D animation, for this latest short they've chosen to use stop motion animation instead!

So if you're up for a bit of a heartwarming story starring Tracer and Reaper, allow me to share with you the latest "Cookiewatch" short. Have a gander, it's well worth the two or so minutes:
