Tales of the Neon Sea screnshot of the in-game city

Unlike most cyberpunk games which focus on the more action-orientated parts of the setting, Tales of the Neon Sea is almost entirely about the story and puzzle-solving. Without spoiling too much, you'll be expected to solve a murder mystery which will take you all across the city and straight into the grips of a massive conspiracy. Oh, and just for good measure, you'll also sometimes get to play as an adorable little cat!

If you're wondering what all of this might look like in gameplay terms, though unfortunately not the parts with the cat, allow me to share with you one of the recent gameplay previews. It's a fairly lengthy video, so you should get a good idea of what Tales of the Neon Sea has to offer:

The Sinking City screenshot of the characters sailing through ruins

[Update]: The Sinking City has now arrived for both PC and consoles!

The Sinking City is a Lovecraftian adventure-investigation hybrid that will have you attempt to unveil a sinister plot filled with seedy characters, as is tradition, as well as hopefully maintain your sanity throughout the process. If that sounds like your type of game, you might be glad to hear that The Sinking City will be coming this June 27th for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

On the other hand if you're wondering what exactly the moment-to-moment gameplay is all about, and you don't mind some rather mild spoilers, allow me to share with you the recently posted gameplay preview. Have a gander:

Thea 2: The Shattering official artwork and logo

Thea 2: The Shattering is a 4X strategy game that blends together elements from grand strategy games, RPGs and even card games. What this means in gameplay terms is that you'll have to manage a large empire as it spreads across the world map, equip your various characters with the best armor and weapons you can possibly find, and then finally duke it out with your enemies through a card game inspired combat system.

Rather than babble on, allow me to share with you one of the recent trailers. It should give you a pretty good idea of just what Thea 2 is about, as well as how its various elements combine together. Have a gander:

World of Goo official artwork and logo

Epic Games announced a while back that they would be giving away a new and interesting game every two weeks throughout all of 2019, and so far they have not disappointed. Last time around the free game was the stylish RPG Transistor, while this time around you're looking at the equally excellent physics-based puzzle game World of Goo.

Despite being over 10 years since its original launch, World of Goo has just recently received a small remaster. While it sadly didn't add any new levels, it did slightly improve the visuals and UI, added better mod support, as well as ensured that World of Goo behaves properly on modern systems and resolutions. A small update, but a fairly meaningful one.

Natural Selection 2 screenshot of the new Unearthed alien commander skins

Natural Selection 2 was a fairly niche game when it first launched, and despite numerous updates and improvements, it never really managed to garner much attention from the general public. That doesn't seem to bother the developers, however, given that they have just released a brand new (and rather hefty) update!

The Unearthed update has brought with it a new map and changes to already existing ones, a variety of new skins and models to play around with, as well as some much needed balance changes. While certainly not the most impactful change on the list, I am also incredibly happy to say that the holes in the Lerk and Gorge hitboxes have now finally been fixed! This should hopefully make it so shooting at the flying menaces will be a lot more consistent and a lot less annoying.

Mordhau screenshot of a close quarters melee battle between vikings and knights

A few years have past since Mordhau was successfully funded on Kickstarer, but the long wait is now thankfully over as Mordhau has just made its way to PC. As you would imagine from the preview image alone, Mordhau is a medieval, melee-focused multiplayer game that aims to be as faithful to the time period as possible.

Since trying to explain combat-focused games through words alone is a bit of a pointless venture, allow me to share with you the recently posted gameplay video showcasing a knight rampaging through the front lines. Have a gander, it's quite a fun one:

While indie games are relatively omnipresent these days, especially on Steam where they can frequently dominate the front page, the situation was much different a decade ago. Back then indie games were an incredibly rare sight and very few of them ever became truly successful, either because they didn't have the marketing clout to actually make themselves known to the players, or simply because storefronts wouldn't accept them.

Despite the deck being stacked heavily against it, World of Goo released in 2008 and achieved an absolutely staggering amount of success, receiving widespread praise from both critics and players alike. Perhaps most importantly, its simple yet enjoyable physics-based puzzles ended up introducing a whole host of players to the wonderful world of indie games, showing them for the first time that even the smallest of games can be well worth a playthorugh.

Gone Home official artwork and logo

If you're curious about what the whole 'walking simulator' genre is all about, or if you're just up for a bit of a relaxing adventure, you might be interested to hear that Gone Home is currently entirely free as a part of an advertisement for Humble's new "Trove" service. You can find more details about it, as well as the download link for Gone Home, over at the Humble website.

The only catch is that the whole promotion will last until May 3rd, so do make sure to grab yourself a copy as soon as possible. Just to clear any sort of confusion, it's worth mentioning that you don't need to actually play through the whole game within this short time span. Instead, simply secure yourself a copy by May 3rd and it will be yours for good.

Official artwork for Transistor showing off the main character

In order to entice people to check out their store, Epic Games have announced that they will be giving out a free game every two weeks, all throughout 2019. The current offer, as you might guess from the title alone, is the excellent action-RPG Transistor from the developers behind Bastion, Pyre and the upcoming Hades.

All you need to do in order to grab yourself a copy of Transistor is to log into the Epic Games Store, go through the 'purchasing' process, and you'll be able to play it whenever you want. The only thing you need to watch out for is the cutoff date, May 2nd, as that's when Transistor will be going back to its normal price tag, while a brand new game will rise up to take its place.

Risk of Rain 2 official artwork and logo

[Update]: Risk of Rain 2's very first content update is coming on June 25th!

Risk of Rain 2, much like its precedessor, is a multiplayer-focused roguelike that will have you face off against increasingly more difficult monsters with a variety of passive boosts, abilities and items. However, unlike the original, Risk of Rain 2 is entirely in 3D, which makes navigating the large levels and dodging the hordes of enemies a significantly more interesting and tricky process.

If you're wondering how all of this translates into actual gameplay, allow me to share with you the recently posted trailer. Have a gander, it'll give you a good idea of what Risk of Rain 2 is really all about:
