Factorio screenshot of a gigantic factory launching a rocket

[Update]: After nearly a decade in development, Factorio has now finally been released!

Factorio has been in Early Access for quite a few years at this point, and if you were worried it was planning to remain there indefinitely like some of the other games on Steam, worry not as the developers have now announced that they're slowly getting ready for the full release. In other words, Factorio will be leaving Early Access on September 25th, 2020!

"The approach 'It is done when it is done' was serving us well to deliver a high quality product, but if we continued this way, we would be doing it basically forever," reads the developer update. "A lot of us don't have any problem working on Factorio for some more time, but the main problem is, that we would like to introduce new features and content instead of just polishing parts that are already present in the game."

Untitled Goose Game screenshot of the goose stealing a radio

[Update]: Untitled Goose Game is adding a free two-player multiplayer mode for maximum geese-based chaos!

If you ever wanted to feel what it's like to be a feathery menace to society, look no further than the recently released Untitled Goose Game. It's essentially a stealth-focused sandbox game about a thoroughly grumpy goose that simply cannot stand the sight of other people being happy.

As such, you'll be expected to complete a variety of charming and hilarious tasks, all in an effort to disrupt and annoy the people around you. This includes things like stealing a man's shoes, throwing a farmer's rake straight into the river, locking a young boy in a phone booth, as well as making a TV appearance by screaming like a maniac. Basically, you'll have to act like a goose!

Cube World official artwork with logo

The colorful and voxel-based RPG Cube World managed to garner a sizable amount of excitement back in 2013 with the release of its very first alpha build. However, despite the positive reception, the development on Cube World was seemingly halted the very same year. With no communication from the leader developer 'Wollay' and the game itself being pulled from storefronts, Cube World's fate looked to be sealed.

As such, you can imagine the surprise when Wollay recently appeared and not only announced that development on Cube World is still ongoing, but that the full release is just around the corner. He wasn't joking either, because after years and years in development, Cube World has now officially launched onto Steam!

Celeste official artwork without the logo

Celeste was originally going to get a couple of new levels in early 2019 in order to celebrate the momentous 500,000 copies sold milestone. However, as the developers continued to work on the free DLC, it quickly became obvious that this one is going to be a little bit more than just a "couple" of new levels.

If you're now wondering just how much the project ballooned out of control, you might be shocked to hear that Celeste's free Chapter 9 update has just arrived with over 100 new levels! Naturally, these aren't fully-fledged and absolutely gigantic levels, but rather screens filled with puzzles and obstacle courses. Even so, there is still a ton of new content to mess around with!

Blasphemous game artwork without the logo

[Update #2]: Blasphemous has now made its way to macOS and Linux.

[Update]: Blasphemous' free DLC has added New Game Plus, tons of gameplay tweaks, and even a new quest

After an immensely successful Kickstarter campaign and a fair few years in development, the highly challenging action-platformer Blasphemous has now finally made its way to both PC and consoles. It brings with it a wide-open world filled with enemies to beat up and bosses to endlessly die against, a combat system that's all about dodging blows and striking when the time is right, and as you might imagine from the name alone, plenty of gore and twisted imagery.

You can get a pretty good idea of what all of this looks like in gameplay terms, as well as what sort of atmosphere Blasphemous is going for, through the recently posted launch trailer. Have a gander, it's certainly a unique one:

Slay the Spire official artwork for The Watcher character

[Update]: Slay the Spire's fourth character The Watcher has now finally been released in full, and unsurprisingly, she's pretty fun to play around with!

After a couple of little teasers, Slay the Spire's fourth playable character has now made its way to the Open Beta. Simply head on over to your Steam library, right click Slay the Spire and go into properties, and from there all you need to do is change to the beta branch in order to see just what The Watcher has to offer.

As you might imagine given The Defect and its abilities, The Watcher is quite a unique and interesting character, and one that will likely take you a fair bit of time to properly figure out. She's all about planning ahead and carefully moving between different stances, with the two basic ones being Calm and Wrath. The first one allows her to build up energy, while the second one gives her double damage but also makes her take double damage in return. Using these stances well is going to be rather tricky, but there is some serious potential behind them!

Cube World official artwork and logo

[Update]: Cube World has now finally released in full, though the reviews are unfortunately a bit mixed.

Cube World is a colorful, voxel-based RPG first released as an alpha all the way back in 2013. However, due to a variety of issues, Cube World's development seemingly ceased the same year, and eventually it even became unavailable for purchase.

With the lead developer's lack of communication and no substantial updates, Cube World was thought to be an abandoned project. With that in mind, you can imagine my surprise when I opened up Twitter and saw a brand new announcement stating that Cube World is not only alive and kicking, but also ready to release in the near future!

Celeste official artwork without logo

There have been quite a few giveaways over the past two weeks, but if you're still itching for something new and interesting to play, you might be glad to hear that both Celeste and Inside are currently free to grab. Simply head on over to the Epic Games Store, snatch yourself a copy, and you'll be playing in no time.

That said, there is a bit of a time limit you'll need to keep an eye on. However, you don't need to install the games or do anything special to secure yourself a permanent copy - just unlock them for your account and you'll be able to play them whenever you want.

Overcooked! 2 artwork and logo for the Carnival of Chaos DLC

[Update]: Overcooked! 2's holiday patch has added five free new maps and a bunch of other content to enjoy!

If you've managed to complete everything Overcooked! 2 has to offer, and you've somehow held onto your friends despite all of the chaos, then you'll be glad to hear that there are even more maps coming! The third part of the Season Pass, the Carnival of Chaos DLC, has now been pinned for a September 12th release date.

No details have been given just yet, not even a number of maps, but you can at least get a little bit of a sneak peek at them through the recently posted teaser trailer. Have a gander:

Re:Legend official artwork and logo

Re:Legend is a charming RPG that combines monster raising with farming, fishing, and naturally, village-building. It was originally supposed to arrive in June of 2018 for PC and consoles, but was unfortunately delayed over and over again.

Thankfully, the long wait is now almost over as Re: Legend will be heading over to Steam Early Access on August 30th! Here's a brief trailer highlighting just what sort of cuteness you can expect to see:
