[Update]: Beyond a Steel Sky has now been unleashed alongside some fairly positive reviews.

For those of you that might be a bit younger, or simply managed to miss it entirely, Beneath the Steel Sky is a thoroughly enjoyable (and completely free) point and click adventure from 1994. While its puzzles are a tad archaic given its age, it is the atmosphere and storytelling that have cemented Beneath the Steel Sky's place as a true classic to this very day.

With that in mind, you might be interested to hear that there is a brand new sequel on the way - Beyond a Steel Sky. However, you'll have to wait a little while for it to arrive as the developers have just announced that they are delaying Beyond a Steel Sky into 2020. The reason, as always, is to ensure that things are as polished as they can possibly be.

"Owing to a need to extend the development period, we can now confirm the launch of Beyond a Steel Sky will come a few months later in 2020," reads the brief update. "This extra time is being used to ensure that we realise our vision: Integrating conceptual innovations like Virtual Theatre and system hacking into adventure gameplay; Innovating with graphics technology in ToonToy; Working closely with Dave Gibbons to create a beautiful visual style."

Once the full release date gets announced I'll make sure to let you know, but until you can learn a little bit more about Beyond a Steel Sky over at the official website.
