Borderlands 3's Director's Cut DLC has been pushed back to April 8

[Update]: The Director's Cut DLC has now arrived, and so far the reviews are mixed.

If you were hoping to get your hands on Borderlands 3's newest DLC this March 18th, I'm afraid I bring some bad news. Due to the recent storm in Texas messing things up for the Borderlands 3 team, the Director's Cut add-on has now been delayed until April 8th.

"Thankfully, all of our team members and their families are safe and healthy, but our work on Director's Cut was unavoidably disrupted and we've ultimately decided to shit the release date to ensure we deliver the best possible experience," explains the brief update.

[Update #2]: Rakarth and his accompanying free update have now arrived, and as expected, it's pretty good stuff!

[Update]: It's not just Rakarth, Dark Elves as a whole are getting some major improvements with the next update!

While the next major piece of DLC is still quite a while away, you'll be happy to hear that Creative Assembly will soon be releasing a nifty freebie to tide us over. The freebie in question is Rakarth the Beastlord, a heavily armored Dark Elf Legendary Lord that is as good at slaying large monsters as he is leading them.

In gameplay terms this means that he will have free upkeep for harpies, the ability to extend the Dark Elves' Murderous Prowess buff to monsters, a whip that makes even the largest of monsters susceptible to fear and terror, as well as increased replenishment even in the middle of enemy territory. And if you're a fan of the dinosaur-riding Cold One Knights, you'll also be pleased to know that, unlike Malus, Rakarth will be able to prevent them from rampaging straight into a line of braced spearmen!

MTG Arena has launched a Historic Shakeup event that aims to disrupt the most powerful decks

[Update]: All of the upcoming Strixhaven and Mystical Archives cards have been revealed, and some of these will really shake up Historic as a format!

Regardless of what game or genre we're talking about, as long as there is a competitive mode people will eventually gravitate towards what is perceived to be the best options. The end result, as you might imagine, is that sooner or later most of the metagame will consists of the same few powerful strategies repeated time and time again.

So in order to mix things up a bit, Wizards of the Coast has now launched a Historic Shakeup event on MTG Arena. Many of the omnipresent cards like Collected Company, Thoughtseize and Muxus have been banned under the new rules, which has not only thoroughly shaken up the firmly established metagame, but also given players an incentive to test out new and potentially interesting strategies!

MacOS versions of Amnesia: Rebirth and SOMA have been canceled due to technical issues

[Update]: Amnesia: Rebirth's new Adventure Mode replaces otherworldly horror with puzzles.

Over the past few years Apple has made it increasingly more challenging to port games over to macOS. Even long-standing series that once had simultaneous launches across all three PC platforms started having trouble with their macOS versions, with the end result usually being lengthy delays or outright cancellations. Unfortunately, due to insurmountable technical problems, Amnesia: Rebirth and SOMA have now been forced to go with the rather unappealing second option.

"We’ve always prided ourselves with being able to supply our games on PC, Linux and Mac, but we have now encountered some serious problems with the latest versions of MacOS," reads the brief update. "Even though we’ve put in tons of effort trying to fix the issues – so that SOMA and Rebirth supports MacOS – we have finally had to give up. We simply cannot manage it."

[Update]: The PvE and co-op focused Archives event is landing on April 6th.

In what is quite possibly the strangest announcement Blizzard has ever done, Overwatch has now revealed and launched a brand new Pachimari themed event. You can earn six adorable sprays simply by logging in, while scoring nine wins across any official game mode (including the Arcade) before March 22 will give you an additional spray, player icon, and Pachimari Roadhog skin!

If you're wondering just what is so strange about any of this, well, allow me to share with you the recently posted trailer. That should clue you in quite quickly... or just confuse you even more! Either way, it's well worth a look:

Nioh 2 update has finally added mouse & keyboard prompts for the PC version

Nioh 2 screenshot of the snake demon boss

Even though Nioh 2 is a game I reviewed quite positively, I still found it remarkably difficult to recommend to PC players due to one fatal flaw. This flaw, as you're likely well aware at this point, is that Nioh 2 launched without any sort of mouse & keyboard prompts!

While annoying, for most games this wouldn't be that big of a problem as you'd quickly figure out what each key does through simple trial and error. However, Nioh 2 has a large assortment of mechanics and combos you absolutely need to keep track of in order to succeed, many of which are thought to you at the very start of the game and barely mentioned afterwards. The end result, as you might imagine, is a whole lot of frustration until you can finally figure out how to transcribe controller prompts and can start playing the game properly.
