Blizzard's massive convention Blizzcon Online will be starting this February 19

[Update]: BlizzCon Online schedule has now been revealed, and sadly Overwatch 2 won't have much of a presence.

If you're looking for some more information about Blizzard's upcoming games, or simply a preview of what is coming for their current ones, you'll be happy to hear that this year's Blizzcon convention will be running from February 19-20. However, unlike the previous years, this one will be entirely online due to the pandemic throwing a wrench into the whole thing.

As far as the big announcements are concerned, nothing has been revealed just yet. That said, I think it's safe to say we'll get a lot more information about Diablo 4, most likely a gameplay trailer and beta reveal for Overwatch 2, as well as more info about Hearthstone, World of Warcraft, and Heroes of the Storm updates. And if the rumors are true, which I do believe they are, we might also get to see the grand announcement for The Burning Crusade Classic!

[Update]: Steam's April festival is all about First-person Shooter games of every variety.

If you're looking to expand your horizons and check out a bunch of strange and interesting games, you're in luck as the Steam Game Festival has just returned. To put it simply, the Steam Game Festival is a way for indie developers to showcase new and upcoming games, as well as interact with the Steam community through streams that are running pretty much constantly.

Best of all, the vast majority of these games have free demos available. So if you're even remotely interested in any of them, you don't have to just look at gameplay trailers to judge whether you'll like them or not - you can simply try them out yourself and see how it goes.

[Update #2]: Total War: Warhammer 3's release date has been pushed back to early 2022.

[Update]: Total War: Warhammer 3's first gameplay preview has unveiled a brand new battle type featuring Chaos and Kislev!

After a few days of cryptic teasers, Creative Assembly has now finally spilled the beans and announced the next Total War game. Unsurprisingly, it's going to be Total War: Warhammer 3 which will take place in the northeastern parts of the Warhammer world.

What might come as quick a shock, however, is the roster of factions. Instead of the usual four, Total War: Warhammer 3 will launch only with the Daemons of Chaos, Kislev and Grand Cathay! The latter two have barely had any sort of real support or fleshed out lore throughout all of Warhammer Fantasy, so not only will we be getting the heavily armored bear-riders the Warhammer community has been clamoring about for years, but a whole assortment of new and ridiculously over-the-top monsters as well!

Prison Architect's Going Green DLC has added farming, green energy and even more trouble

[Update #2]: Prison Architect's Undead DLC has added the living dead, bounty hunters and numerous traps.

[Update]: Prison Architect's Free for Life update has added aging, guard seniority, and a ton of improvements.

A fair bit of time has gone by since Prison Architect's first major expansion, Island Bound, so if you're itching for more content you'll be pleased to hear that a brand new DLC has just arrived. As the name would suggest, Going Green will have you grow an assortment of crops to either sell or use in the kitchen, rehabilitate prisoners through work therapy, generate green energy, and naturally, fight against all sorts of new contraband like good ol' fashioned booze.

As for what exactly all of this looks like in actual gameplay, that you can find out through the recently posted trailer. Have a gander, it's a fairly short one:

[Update #2]: Mass Effect Legendary Edition has now been unleashed without too many technical issues or bugs!

[Update]: BioWare has detailed the gameplay changes coming in with the Legendary Edition.

If you're looking for an excuse to dive back into the Mass Effect universe, you'll be pleased to hear that the Legendary Edition will be launching in a mere few months. To be more specific, the remastered versions of all three games will be making their way to PC, PlayStation and Xbox on May 14, 2021!

You can expect to see support for 4K resolutions and improved visuals, including character models and environmental textures, as well as updates to the shaders, lighting and VFX. Best of all, the Legendary Edition will also include all of the singleplayer DLC for all three games, so no more wrestling with nonsense like BioWare coins and convoluted menus on the PC version!

Overwatch's Year of the Ox event is launching this February 4th alongside the Capture the Flag mode

[Update]: Overwatch's Year of the Ox event has arrived alongside a new Bounty Hunter mode.

It has only been a couple of weeks since the last major update added Kanezaka as a lovely new deathmatch map, and already we have a brand new event to look forward to. As you might imagine I'm talking about the Lunar New Year event, which this time around is celebrating the Year of the Ox.

Expect to see a whole bunch of new cosmetics to collect, the return of Capture the Flag in both casual and competitive flavors, and hopefully a few more tidbits to spice things up this year. As for the cosmetics, it's highly likely these will be based on the Overwatch 2 hero designs, kind of like some of the skins from the Winter Wonderland event. So while it's not exactly brand new content, there is a good chance the cosmetics will be something a little bit out of the ordinary at least.

Gearbox's team-based shooter Battleborn has now closed its doors for good

To say that Battleborn has had a rough time would be quite an understatement. Despite having a pretty fun concept and some neat hero designs, Gearbox and 2K Games foolishly decided to compete directly with Overwatch, and so Battleborn ended up launching right alongside what is probably the most popular game of 2016.

What followed next wasn't exactly pretty either. Battleborn got shredded critically due to the direct comparison to Overwatch, and what playerbase it did manage to acquire quickly started leaving for greener pastures. Gearbox eventually made it free-to-play in an effort to bring about some sort of revival, but unfortunately the damage had already been done. And so, after about a year of updates, Gearbox finally announced that Battleborn will be slowly winding down and eventually even closing its doors for good.
