World of Warcraft artwork for the Black Temple raid

[Update #2]: World of Warcraft will finally be adding cross-faction dungeons, raids and rated PvP in Update 8.2.5!

[Update]: Let the squabbling over Warglaives begin - Phase 3 of Burning Crusade Classic has now arrived!

I hope your guild has decided who's getting the almighty Warglaives, because Blizzard has just revealed that Phase 3 of Burning Crusade Classic will be launching on January 27th. With it you can expect to see the arrival of The Black Temple and The Battle for Mount Hyjal raids, as well as the Netherwing daily quest hub with its always delightful Netherdrake mount rewards.

Much like before, in order to even enter the new raids you'll need to first complete the attunement quests. For The Battle for Mount Hyjal you'll need to defeat both Kael'thas Sunstrider in Tempest Keep and Lady Vashj in Serpentshine Cavern, while The Black Temple will have you complete a lengthy quest chain that starts with the "Tablets of Baa'ri" in Shadowmoon Valley. It's a bit of an ordeal, I'm not going to lie, but the heaps of new loot definitely make it an attractive proposition regardless!

[Update #2]: Forspoken has now arrived with a free demo and an outrageous price tag.

[Update]: In order to avoid a rough launch like Babylon's Fall, Square Enix has now pushed back Forspoken to October 11, 2022.

Developed by the Luminous Productions team, many of which worked on Final Fantasy XV, Forspoken is an upcoming action-adventure with a focus on open-world exploration and magically-enhanced parkour. Besides being used to skate around on ice, these magical abilities will also enable a wide variety of playstyles - everything from running at the enemy while screaming incoherently to more subtle, stealth focused approaches.

On the story side of things, Forspoken will have you take control of Frey Holland, an ordinary person from New York City that has found herself trapped in the bizarre land of Athia. With the world dying due to a mysterious corruption, your arrival and inexplicable magical powers will be seen as both a blessing and a curse. So as you might expect, you'll need to prove yourself to the locals, put a stop to the endlessly spreading corruption, and hopefully also find a road back home somewhere along the way.

[Update #2]: Hitman 3's free July update has added a brand new map to completely ransack- Ambrose Island.

[Update]: The Hitman Trilogy has now arrived, though sadly not without quite a few issues.

If you are looking for an excuse to dive into the Hitman series for the very first time, mark January 20th on your calendar as that's when the Hitman Trilogy will be landing for PC and consoles. As the name would imply, the Hitman Trilogy will combine all three of the modern Hitman games into a single, convenient package alongside a couple of extras.

Most excitingly, the Hitman Trilogy will launch with support for PC VR in all three games, thus ending a year of PSVR exclusivity for Hitman 3. The exact list of supported devices has not been revealed just yet, but the brief announcement does mention it'll be available on "the most popular hardware to deliver the best experience to as many players as possible."

[Update #2]: My review for Dying Light 2 is now up, and I'm happy to say that it's a somewhat misguided yet still highly entertaining bandit-kicking simulator!

[Update]: Techland has now revealed their plans for Dying Light 2's post-launch updates and DLC.

Given that Dying Light 2 is set to release this February 4th, it shouldn't come as too much of a shock to hear that Techland has now started discussing their plans for post-launch support. What might come as quite a surprise, however, is that they are committing to at least five years of updates and DLCs!

The details are obviously few and far between as most of this content isn't even in the planning phase yet, but you can expect to see things like new events, locations and in-game items. It's also likely there will be new story DLC thrown into the mix, and potentially even an expansion given how things went with the original Dying Light.

[Update #2]: The remastered Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection is heading over to PC on October 19th.

[Update]: It looks like the next big PlayStation game to make its way over to PC will be the bullet hell roguelike Returnal.

If you're itching for a chunky action-adventure to sink your teeth into, you might be interested to hear that one of PlayStation 4's biggest hits, God of War, is landing onto PC later today! The PC version will come with 4k support, unlocked framerates, higher resolution shaders, improved reflections, as well as a whole host of graphical settings to mess around with.

What all of this looks like in gameplay, however, that you can check out through the freshly posted ultrawide trailer. Have a peek, it's quite a pretty one:

Humankind artwork for the Cultures of Africa DLC

[Update]: The Cultures of Africa DLC has now arrived, and so far it's looking solid though unexciting.

Unlike games like Civilization where you pick one faction at the very start and then stick with them, in Humankind you frequently morph from one culture to another, all depending on the sort of effects you're looking for. So in order to ensure things remain interesting, Amplitude have just announced the very first piece of DLC - Cultures of Africa.

As the name would imply, the Cultures of Africa DLC will bring with it six new cultures to choose from, as well as a variety of new events and wonders to further help spice up your campaigns. Here's a brief rundown of what each of the cultures are and what they will specialize in:

Age of Sigmar artwork showing the Stormcast fighting Khorne

Even though it was announced two years ago, we've heard very little about Frontier Developments' upcoming Warhammer Age of Sigmar real-time strategy game since then. As such, it should come as little surprise to hear that they have now pushed its release date back to the latter part of 2023.

"This change will further improve the quality and longevity of the game, and overall make it more successful," explains the official trading update. I would love to tell you more, but I'm afraid that outside of the game being an "immersive and accessible" strategy game the details are pretty much nonexistent.

The Settlers official artwork without logo

[Update #2]: I have some bad news to deliver - The Settlers reboot has now been postponed due to negative beta feedback.

[Update]: The Closed Beta has now begun and will be active until January 24th.

Ubisoft's big reboot of The Settlers was originally supposed to release back in 2019, but unfortunately it ran into some development issues and was thus delayed time and time again. The long wait is now finally over, however, as Ubisoft has finally given us a proper launch date - March 17, 2022!

Best of all, not only will The Settlers be launching in a mere two months, but there is also a closed beta coming next week! The beta will feature two skirmish maps and two factions with which you will be able to either battle the AI or your fellow players in 1v1 and 2v2 game modes.

The Anacrusis official artwork and logo

If Back 4 Blood and World War Z's recent Aftermath expansion haven't sated your thirst for Left 4 Dead inspired co-op shooters, you'll be happy to hear a brand new one is nearly upon us. That last part isn't an exaggeration either, as the retro-futuristic The Anacrusis is set to launch into Early Access within the next hour!

As you might imagine given its roots, The Anacrusis is a heavily co-op focused experience that will have you fight against hordes upon hordes of enemies whilst the 'AI Driver' does its best to provide an ever-increasing challenge. Along the way you'll also be able to acquire a variety of new gear and upgrades to help spice things up, all of which will be randomly placed around to ensure no two runs are ever the same.

Hardspace: Shipbreaker official artwork along with the logo

After about two years in Early Access, the space-based 'faffing about' simulator is now slowly getting ready for its big Update 1.0. Once it arrives at some point in Spring 2022, the official launch will bring with it the conclusion of Hardspace: Shipbreaker's storyline, as well as the long-awaited ability to save ships in progress.

Additionally, since one of Hardspace: Shipbreaker's major issues are the ever-present bugs, Update 1.0 will also bring with it "tons and tons of bug fixes, optimizations and stability improvements." And just for good measure, there will also be a variety of tweaks to the in-game progression in order to make players less impacted by the randomized salvage value and composition of ships.
