Total War: Three Kingdoms artwork showing off two of the generals

Total War: Three Kingdoms will be coming this May 23rd, bringing with it a variety of new features and improvements over the previous Total War games. Diplomacy is being reworked from the ground up, espionage will be getting a variety of improvements to make it more interesting and relevant, your actions in battle will have an effect on your heroes and their relationships, there will be realistic and Dynasty Warriors inspired game modes to mess around with, and the list goes on for a while.

If you're wondering how all of this might translate into a multiplayer campaign, allow me to share with you the recently posted developer preview. It's unfortunately a bit light on action, but it is an insightful video regardless. Have a peek:

Needless to say, Total War: Three Kingdoms is shaping up to be pretty darn interesting. How exactly it will fare once thousands of players get their hands on the game and really start tearing into the various systems, that only time will tell, but so far it really does seem to be a noticeable improvement over the previous Total War games. Still, I wish they would just pull the trigger and make it so the campaign can support more than two players!
