[Update]: The 2022 version of the Shadow of the Mad King event will be arriving on October 18th.

In order to celebrate the spookiest time of the year, Guild Wars 2 has now brought back the Shadow of the Mad King festival. Much like last year Shadow of the Mad King brings with it an assortment of cosmetics to collect, the Mad King's Labyrinth to endlessly farm for candy-shaped goodies, a couple of races and a jumping puzzle to partake in, as well as plenty of Halloween themed decorations to get everyone into a festive mood.

Naturally, there are some new additions as well. Not only is there a rather chunky bonus experience and reward event going on until October 12, but the Mad King's Labyrinth has received two new bosses alongside an overhaul of previous ones, and there's even a lovable surprise guest to keep you company as you wonder through the labyrinth.

[Update #2]: My review of Monster Hunter Rise (PC) has now been released, and I'm very happy to say that it's a great port for a compelling yet somewhat unambitious Monster Hunter game.

[Update]: Monster Hunter Rise's free PC demo has now been unleashed onto Steam, nearly three months ahead of launch.

After spending a fair few months exclusively on the Switch, Monster Hunter Rise is now slowly getting ready to make its way to PC as well. According to Capcom's newest announcement, you can expect to see it arrive onto Steam this January 12, 2022!

While the exact details are still few and far between, the PC version will bring with it a variety of optimizations and graphical improvements, including things like support for 4K resolutions, high-res textures, uncapped framerates and ultrawide support. What all of this looks like in actual gameplay, that you can find out through the recently posted trailer. Have a gander:

Total War: Warhammer 3 Grand Cathay army artwork

[Update #2]: It has finally happened! Creative Assembly has now unveiled the full scope of Total War: Warhammer 3's siege rework!

[Update]: Creative Assembly has now detailed the lore and function behind each unit in the Cathay army.

Instead of launching in late 2021 as originally announced, Total War: Warhammer 3 will be landing onto PC in early 2022 due to the team needing a bit more time to polish everything up. So in order to keep everyone engaged, as well as to help time pass just a little bit quicker, Creative Assembly has been releasing weekly updates detailing some of the characters and units we'll get to play around with.

While the past few updates were purely text based and story focused, today's preview more than makes up for it by offering a close-up look at some of the Cathay units in action. Have a gander, and make sure to keep your eyes open for some Tzeentch teasers as well:

[Update #2]: Blizzard has detailed the changes coming with World of Warcraft Classic's Season of Mastery servers.

[Update]: After a successful beta, World of Warcraft Classic's fresh servers are coming this November 16 with the Season of Mastery.

While you can technically play World of Warcraft: Classic these days on the special forever-Classic servers, it's unfortunately a rather depressing experience. Not only is there a very small amount of players to group up with as you journey towards level 60, but the ones that are there are already heavily entrenched so you're pretty much doomed to forever play catch-up as a new player.

Thankfully, according to the latest announcement from Blizzard, that whole mess will soon be a thing of the past! On October 5th as a part of the "Season of Mastery" Blizzard will launch a whole bunch of fresh World of Warcraft: Classic servers into Open Beta testing, all of which will arrive alongside some interesting tweaks to make the whole experience a bit more exciting for everyone involved.

Now that the End of Dragons expansion preview event has come and gone, Guild Wars 2 is starting to get ready for an old favorite - the Shadow of the Mad King Halloween festival. Once it arrives this October 5th, the Shadow of the Mad King festival will bring with it a whole assortment of cosmetics to collect, the always-busy Mad King's Labyrinth to plunder for goodies, as well as plenty of spooky decorations to help set the Halloween mood.

As an additional little bonus, Shadow of the Mad King will launch alongside a weeklong bonus event. From October 5 to October 12 you'll earn more experience and rewards in the vast majority of content, while simply leveling a character to level 10 will give you a Bloodbound weapon that will scale up in power alongside you.

[Update]: Overwatch's annual Halloween Terror event is bringing in spooky, scary skins on October 12, 2021.

After spending a good few weeks on the test servers, Overwatch's newest deathmatch map Malevento has now finally arrived. Much like its predecessor Kanezaka, Malevento brings with it some downright gorgeous scenery, interesting setpieces to play around on, and naturally, plenty of opportunities to duke it out with your fellow players while waiting on those endless DPS queues.

As for how all of this looks like in actual gameplay, that you can find out through the recently posted trailer. Have a look, it really is a lovely map:

[Update #2]: The Dark Alliance studio is being expanded in order to work on a AAA Dungeons & Dragons RPG developed on Unreal Engine 5.

[Update]: 2004 console hack & slash RPG Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance II has now made its way to PC.

Even though their two recent games ended up being disappointing, to the point that Magic: Legends shut down before it even truly launched, Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast have now opened up a brand new gaming division. The freshly formed New Raleigh-Durham Studio will focus on developing AAA games for both PC and consoles based on Hasbro's various properties.

These franchises include some you might expect like Transformers and G.I. Joe, as well as some that are a little bit more niche like Micronauts and even Ouija. How in the world you would make a compelling game out of Ouija, I have absolutely no idea, but the good news is that the studio will start off fairly simple by creating an action-adventure set within the G.I. Joe universe.

Alan Wake official artwork and logo

[Update]: Alan Wake Remastered has now arrived, and so far it's exactly what you might expect - a newer, prettier version of the same old Alan Wake.

Even though its visuals still hold up fairly well, the highly atmospheric Alan Wake will be getting a full remaster on October 5, 2021. The aptly titled Alan Wake Remastered will bring with it 4K visuals, support for modern resolutions, reworked character models and cutscenes, as well as a variety of other visual improvements.

Since trying to describe all of this through words alone is a bit of a pointless endeavor, allow me to share with you the recently posted comparison trailer. This one is specifically for the Xbox Series X version, but it should still give you a pretty good idea of what Alan Wake Remastered will actually look like. Have a peek:

Resident Evil 4 VR official artwork and logo

[Update]: Resident Evil 4 VR has now been unleashed, and so far it's looking pretty solid!

If you're itching to get your hands on Resident Evil 4 VR, you'll be happy to hear that the long wait is now nearly over. According to the latest announcement from Oculus and Capcom, Resident Evil 4 VR will be launching on October 21, 2021!

Unfortunately, there is one bit of bad news. As previously stated Resident Evil 4 VR will be a Oculus Quest 2 exclusive. In other words, you won't be able to play it on any other VR device, not even Oculus' previous headsets!

[Update #2]: Overwatch 2's PvP mode will finally be heading into Closed Beta this April 2022.

[Update]: According to the Q3 2021 earnings report call, Blizzard has pushed back the release of both Overwatch 2 and Diablo 2.

While Overwatch 2's release date is still a mystery, I'm happy to say that Blizzard has finally broken their long silence and released some more information about it! More specifically, as a part of the recent Overwatch League finals Blizzard has unveiled the Sombra and Bastion reworks, as well as offered a small glimpse at the new Push game mode.

First things first, here are the two videos detailing what's happening with Sombra and Bastion. It's pretty exciting stuff, so have a peek:
