Total War: Warhammer 2 artwork showing off Khorne and Kislev armies

[Update]: Total War: Warhammer 3's newest preview shows off Grand Cathay and Tzeentch's armies for the very first time.

If you were hoping to get your hands on Total War: Warhammer 3 and its new and improved factions later this year, I'm afraid I have some bad news. According to the latest announcement, Creative Assembly has now pushed Total War: Warhammer 3 back until early 2022 in order to get everything polished up and ready to go.

"With nearly a decade of development on the Total War: Warhammer trilogy behind us, it feels surreal to see its culminating chapter so close to release," reads the brief update. "While it's tempting to rush to the finish line as it comes into view, we have made the decision to give it a little more time by moving the launch of Total War: Warhammer 3 from 2021 to early 2022."

"The wait won't be much longer, and we'll have plenty of new information for you in the meantime. The new date will make for a stronger release and the best first step into a new era for Total War: Warhammer 3. We don't consider this release the end of our trilogy, but the start of years of content and support as we continue to bring the jaw-dropping scale of Games Workshop's fantasy universe to Total War."

Considering how Total War: Warhammer 2 launched alongside a variety of problems that took a fair bit of time to fix, I'd say this delay is definitely appreciated. So even if waiting a few more months to get a proper Chaos faction does indeed suck, it'll all be worth it in the end if Total War: Warhammer 3 manages to somehow be even better than Total War: Warhammer 2!

Once the new release date gets announced, or Creative Assembly finally reveals some of the other factions besides Kislev and Khorne, I'll make sure to let you know. Until then, I'm afraid all we can do is sit and wait.
