Konami Is Hiring For A "New Metal Gear" Game
- By Ash
- in News
[Update]: Konami has now announced four new Silent Hill games, as well as a Silent Hill 2 inspired movie.
I won't even pretend to understand the situation here. Konami had THE guy behind Metal Gear, someone who not only spent over a decade working on the series but under his direction the games flourished. So what do you do when you have such a stable and popular series? You oust its creator, lay off or drive away a bunch of staff that worked on the series for years and then hire new people, obviously.
While that still confuses me, one thing is however clear, Konami is working on a new Metal Gear game and they are looking for talented people to help fill out their Tokyo and LA offices.
Funcom Is Working On 3 New "Conan The Barbarian" Games

If it took you a few moments to even remember Age of Conan exists you aren't the only one. I had to Google to even see if its still around and as it turns out AoC found its new home on Steam to a rather small crowd of around 1000 players a week, an unsurprising number considering how poorly received it was on launch.
What does surprise me is that Funcom has decided to enter a partnership with the aptly named "Conan Properties" for three Conan the Barbarian based titles that will be announced in 2016.

I've talked about both of these games before as they fill niches you don't often see in PC gaming these days so their presence is more than welcome, especially since both look really interesting.
Aviary Attorney is probably best described as a detective game similar to Phoenix Wright, starring Victorian birds while UnderRail is an oldschool Fallout-inspired isometric RPG that has been in the making for years.
Allow me to give you a short introduction to each of them and why I think they are worthy of your attention:

Rainbow Six Siege is no stranger to controversy the past week or so as many people have criticized it over a lack of content and the grind necessary in order to access all of the available missions. So it is understandable if you held off on buying it for the time being.
Luckily, instead of taking a blind plunge, you'll now be able to try Siege during its free weekend which starts today and ends on Monday. If you find yourself even remotely interested in it now would be the best time to give Siege a try.

Its been a while since I've lasted played Team Fortress 2. When I left it off it was becoming a game completely focused around cosmetics and increasingly ridiculous weapons that served no practical purpose. But, looking through the patch notes now it seems that Valve have been busy and the game currently seems far better than the one I left behind, mostly due to some excellent updates.
And Tough Break is one such update, with its focus not on adding new weapons but rather fine-tuning balance, adding new maps and giving players interesting ways to earn cosmetics besides simply through random chance. Here's my quick overview of the changes showcased so far:

I've talked about this before but Dragon's Dogma and its expansion are one of the few reasons I even considered getting a console this past generation. In the end I decided against it but the fact that I'm missing out on such a good game kept nibbling at me.
However, after quite the wait, Dragon's Dogma is just about ready to launch on the PC with what seems to be an incredible port. Unlocked FPS, 4K support, customizable controls, improved graphics and full gamepad support (including Dualshock) - what is there not to like?

You know how back in the day a lot of parents were riling against Doom because they thought it was super violet and corrupting their children? Well, with Brutal Doom let's just say their heads would fly straight off had they seen even a few minutes of it.
Violence aside, Brutal Doom is a mod that has consistently received updates for many years now, making it one of the rare few long-term modding projects. In a recently released video (embeded below) SGTMarkIV, the mod's creator, showcased upcoming improvements to "gib physics" as well as destructible bodies.
