The Division - Detailed Review And Critique Of The Open Beta

My honest review & critique of The Division in its current open beta state

The Division is Ubisoft's latest foray in to the open world genre and it features a beautifully realized Manhattan, an interesting take on multiplayer and some very competent cover based shooting.

I've spent a good chunk of time playing the open beta this weekend and while I certainly enjoyed it I am somewhat worried about the long term appeal of The Division. It is a well made game, there's no doubt about that, but it doesn't push any boundaries or make attempts to be more than just "good".

Dark Souls 3 has a brand new trailer showcasing bosses, monsters and locations you will encounter

Action orientated gameplay set to a melancholic ill-fitting tune has been the staple of Dark Souls trailers the past few years and it seems not even Dark Souls 3 is able to avoid it.

The latest Dark Souls 3 trailer showcases the "true colors of darkness" which is apparently a code word for new bosses, enemies, locations and armor sets you will be able to toy around with. Here's the trailer:

Spore's Spinoff ARPG "Darkspore" Will Be Going Permanently Dark Next Week

Darkspore is being shut down on March 1st

Darkspore is, or soon to be was, an ARPG based on the creature creation system from Spore. While that might sound incredible on paper, in reality your options were extremely limited which combined with the generic gameplay led to Darkspore's quick fade in to obscurity.

Unfortunately, due to its always-online requirement, even if you enjoy Darkspore and play it regularly you won't be able to do so once the servers shut down permanently on March 1st, so if you're up for giving it one last shot now would be the time. Here's the brief announcement message from EA:

The Humble Indie Bundle 16 is now available alongside some great games

After devouring countless Humble Bundles over the years it has become increasingly hard for me to get excited about yet another. One part of it is because the luster had worn off after dozens of other websites copied the formula and the other because I've ended up with a backlog so large I could not buy games for a year and still have it big enough to complain about.

However, today's Humble Indie Bundle is a much different story as its so filled with interesting games that I can't help but be excited about it. Allow me to share with you why that is the case by briefly going over each of the games:
