Total War: Warhammer Vampire Counts faction

Total War: Warhammer is one of those crossovers that was almost destined to happen, and as someone that considers himself a massive fan of both franchises I couldn't be happier with the fact that it not only happened, but ended up being actually good as well!

How good, you might ask? Good enough to ensure its place as the fastest-selling Total War game with over half a million copies sold in its first few days, and most importantly, enough concurrent players to regularly breach that magical 100k barrier.

Overwatch is getting a competitive mode next month

Tracer from Overwatch looking rather smug

I don't know about you, but ever since Overwatch released I was itching for a proper competitive mode, a place where everyone would play to the best of their abilities, and where four Hanzos per team were something you laughed about, rather than something you had to endure.

If you belong in this camp you'll be glad to hear that the competitive/ranked mode will be making its way to Overwatch next month as a part of a big update, the contents of which are currently shrouded in mystery. This news comes from a relatively recent Q&A video on Facebook where Jeff Kaplan, Game Director and one of Blizzard's most influential developers, discussed a variety of topics, so if you're interesting in anything beyond competitive play I'd recommend you give it a watch.

No Man's Sky alien dinosaurs and deer

After an entire week filled with rumors about No Man's Sky being delayed from its original June 21 release date we have finally received an official response from Sony, and unfortunately the rumors have been completely true.

In order to ensure that No Man's Sky gets the level of polish it needs to truly impress everybody its release date has been pushed back to August 9 for North America, August 10 for Europe, and August 12 for the UK. One of these days I'm sure I will finally understand why publishers keep doing these silly staggered releases, but until then, here's what Sony had to say about the whole delay:

Witcher 3 Blood and Wine mushrooms

With the Blood and Wine DLC set for May 31st CDPR has decided to do a patch solely dedicated to quality of life changes, bug fixes, and other such minor improvements that swiftly add up in terms of enjoyment.

The most notable of these additions is a little book titled "A Miraculous Guide to Gwent" which display the number of Gwent cards missing from your collection, and most importantly, where you can go to find them! Since Blood and Wine is bringing in a whole bunch of new Gwent cards this would be the perfect opportunity to finish up your collection and secure your title as the reigning Gwent champion in all of the Northern kingdoms.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance combat

According to a brief forum exchange the medieval combat RPG Kingdom Come: Deliverance has been delayed once more, this time until 2017 in order to ensure it releases as the best game it can possibly be.

While this news will leave a lot of people annoyed I can't say it was unexpected, especially since the developers were rather shaky with their "late 2016" estimate during the initial delay back in March. Here's what they had to say this time around:

Newly announced combat RPG Absolver showcases intense melee combat

Absolver is a combat focused RPG

From what little information is available so far I can tell you that Absolver is an online combat RPG with a focus on fluid melee combat. You will have to carefully time your attacks, feints, dodges, and counters, or end up being swiftly brought down by a superior opponent.

As for the RPG elements, you will be able to learn new combat styles and attacks, customize your weapons and individual combo sequences to fit your playstyle, and naturally, wear different types of armor, each of which I assume will come with its own drawbacks. Most importantly, however, Absolver is an incredibly stylish game, as you'll notice in the announcement trailer below:

Live-action Deus Ex: Mankind Divided trailer shows off the descent into a mechanical apartheid

During the events of Human Revolution (slight spoiler ahead) everyone who had a certain compromised chip placed within their augments lost control over their bodies, becoming essentially the modern equivalent of a zombie, an augmented and incredibly strong zombie at that.

If you were like me and always wondered what the consequences of such a global outburst would be, well, wonder no more as the recently posted live-action Deux Ex trailer goes over exactly that, and it manages to do so rather well, albeit with too much cheesiness at times. Have a look, its well worth the few minutes:
